The Long Ride Home

The Long Ride Home. Confessions of a pop-culture addict and YA fanatic. Sunday, April 27, 2014. A few lessons learned. I've had perhaps the oddest road to querying but here I am, at last. I've also learned quite a few lessons along the way that I thought might be useful for the writerly folks who follow the blog. But first, the setup: how did I get here? Didn't work as the more I tried the louder and crisper Toby's voice became. So, finally, I decided to give in and just write him as I heard him. But I'm...

The Long Ride Home: Q&A with Author Meredith Zeitlin Take 2!

http://sarahcookraymond.blogspot.com/2014/01/q-with-author-meredith-zeitlin-take-2.html

The Long Ride Home. Confessions of a pop-culture addict and YA fanatic. Friday, January 17, 2014. Q&A with Author Meredith Zeitlin Take 2! FRESHMAN YEAR and OTHER UNNATURAL DISASTERS. Was your first novel. What big takeaway messages would you give to writers around the following themes:. Kelsey feels so relatable. Her voice was one of the strongest I’ve seen lately in YA. What do you think makes for a character who “sticks” long after the final pages are over? Again, thank you so much! Readers relating t...

I just recently stumbled upon the books Freshman Year and Other Unnatural Distasters. And The Fine Art of Truth or Dare. And had to share. Freshman Year and Other Unnatural Disasters. Unfortunately it doesn't come out until March of 2012, though that's one more reason to be happy about entering a New Year- new book releases! And, really, how can you not love this cover? Id love...

The Long Ride Home. Confessions of a pop-culture addict and YA fanatic. Monday, October 22, 2012. It's been a while since I've done a cover love post so I thought I'd share a few that have caught my eye. 1 Burn for Burn. By Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian. Here's what it's about: Payback is paradise in this start to a trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian. KAT is sick and tired of being bullied by her former best friend. Something about the cover struck me as both beaut...

The Long Ride Home: June 2010

http://sarahcookraymond.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

The Long Ride Home. Confessions of a pop-culture addict and YA fanatic. Tuesday, June 29, 2010. The Web is Here to Help. I cannot stress how invaluable the Web has been in doing research on the publishing industry, agents, querying, and just about everything else. Very recently The Bookshelf Muse. Did a blog roll asking readers to submit what blogs they can't live without. The list in full can be found here. And Nathan Bransford's blog. Guide to Literary Agents. And, of course, Publisher's Marketplace.

Cupcakes And Karma: What We're Reading: Midnight Lady, Doctor Sleep, Variants and Gentlemen Bastards

http://cupcakesnkarma.blogspot.com/2014/05/what-were-reading-midnight-lady-doctor.html

Three friends. Three cities. One blog. Not enough cupcakes. Friday, 30 May 2014. What We're Reading: Midnight Lady, Doctor Sleep, Variants and Gentlemen Bastards. We've been busy on all sides of the Atlantic, but not too busy to share what we're reading. I've got my fingers firmly crossed for some nicer weather here in London this weekend (it's been rainy and miserable this week). But, even if the weather stays grim, I've got a good book to read so that's a win! This weekend I'm reading Doctor Sleep.

I'm an American ex-pat living in London and working in book publishing. All my thoughts, photos, inane ramblings and opinions are my own. I read far too much, write a little and don't get to adventure enough. I have a pathological hatred of mayo and a love of old ruins, pop culture, YA books, a growing love of Fantasy and even the occasional vampire romance novel. Friday, 31 August 2012. Brilliant or Bonkers: "Muscle Music" Edition. So, here we go. Another brilliant or bonkers . . . Old Spice Muscle Music.

Thursday, August 13, 2015. One Week in Bali. So, I'm finally writing up our holiday to Bali! We went for a week just before Christmas last year and had a fantastic time! I must admit, Bali had never been on my wishlist - I'd always cynically thought: "If I want to see drunk Aussies, I could just stay home! However, my friend D-Slam and her man had booked themselves a little one week getaway, and when they suggested we tag along, we couldn't book flights fast enough! We stayed at Pantai Indah Villas.
