The Moviegoer: August 2006
http://the-moviegoer.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 30, 2006. Thomas Sheehan Interview in Contemplatio. It looks like the undergraduate philosophy journal Contemplatio. Has an interview with Thomas Sheehan. While the whole interview was quite interesting to me, I especially enjoyed this last exchange:. C: What advice would you give to someone contemplating. Philosophy as a career? S: I really have no advice for anyone else. I can only tell you some. Things that concern me when I do philosophy. Radical as reality itself. Of ideas, the ide...

The Moviegoer: July 2007
http://the-moviegoer.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 10, 2007. So I've been doing a trial run of Netflix ever since I heard my friend Brant was using it. It's great! They have all the movies I've been dying to rent but which are never, ever in the local video store. Not sure how it compares to Blockbuster, but I like the web interface a lot better than the Blockbuster interface I tried out (it lets me do things like search by language, and the schematization of the films is superior imo). The Moviegoer: April 2006
http://the-moviegoer.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 30, 2006. A thought experiment occurred to me the other day. Suppose you were marooned on a tropical island. After getting your bearings and enjoying a few papayas you decide to explore the island to see if it's deserted. While walking along the beach you discover a stopwatch in the sand. You know it must have belonged to a human because:. If you chose 'b', does this mean all comparisons of living creatures with human equipment is, in the end, a fatally flawed analogy? The Moviegoer: Myopia in American Academic Philosophy
http://the-moviegoer.blogspot.com/2006/07/myopia-in-american-academic-philosophy.html
Friday, July 14, 2006. Myopia in American Academic Philosophy. In a post that's begging to get philosophers frothing at the mouth denouncing the evils of French-influenced humanities departments. Prof Jason Stanley artfully introduces what probably ought to be (and maybe is) a topic of concern in American academics: the complete neglect of Angle-American philosophical interests within non-philosophical humanities programs. That French intellectual life involves such a unification of concerns, and that Am...

Mulled Thoughts and Ponderings of Nathaniel. Do you delight in the love of your woman? I know that I do! Links to this post. Give Thanks. It is good and right to do so. Because He loves me. So as we lift our cups of wine today in celebration, let us not forsake thanksgiving to the Son of Man for the overflowing cup that He drank. In exchange for the overflowing cup He gives. Author of all blessings I enjoy, of all I hope for,. Thou has taught me. That neither the experience of present evils,. Far from the...

Mulled Thoughts and Ponderings of Nathaniel. International Pipe Smoking Day-2/20. Kind of funny to have an international day for this. As one person pointed out that the dead of winter is probably not the best time to celebrate a day dedicated to an activity that has been all but banished to the outdoors. And really.do I need another reason smoke my pipe. I guess I have a new one! Oh and my friend Van just posted a few thoughts on pipe smoking by Bach. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Mulled Thoughts and Ponderings of Nathaniel. The First Homebrew-Part 4. And I spent about an hour bottling the homebrew. It tasted pretty sweet to me. We had just added the priming sugar so I am sure that made it sweeter. I am really looking forward to giving it a try and hope it carbonates well. I am also hoping that the carbonation will balance out some of the sweetness. Here are a few pictures from the bottling session. Links to this post. Richmond Pipe Show-October 3-5, 2008. Anesthetic Smoke: The First Homebrew-Part 6
http://anestheticsmoke.blogspot.com/2008/11/first-homebrew-part-6.html
Mulled Thoughts and Ponderings of Nathaniel. The First Homebrew-Part 6. The picture above is the bobble head Luther with my bobble head John Calvin that my good friend Van gave to me last week for my birthday. It's a fitting picture because Brant is a Luthern and I am a Calvinist. Cheers! PS The name of our ale comes from an aromatic maple tobacco from McClellands Tobacco. The name of this tobacco is Townsman Cavendish Blue. Sing it with me: Weeeeeee are the champions, WEEE are the champions!
