Scribblings From the Mist: 2011-11-20

http://www.scribblingsfromthemist.blogspot.com/2011_11_20_archive.html

Saturday, November 26, 2011. NaNoWriMo 2011 Story 5 - Day 25. The road seemed never-ending, eternal, always one bend after another. It passed through wood and town, field and hills, crossed river and valley. Other roads came and went, leading off to their ultimate destinations, but this one just went on. There was a doggedness, an intensity to her travel that suggested not quite urgency, but a fierce determination. The road might not have an ultimate destination, but she certainly did. Flagons clanked an...

Saturday, November 5, 2011. NaNoWriMo 2011 Day 4. Back to NaNoWriMo 2011 Day 1. NaNoWriMo 2011 Day 3. Altman watched him leave, then turned to follow. The market was to be a quick build, little more than a cleared space with some pre-built stalls to allow merchants a place to set their wares for sale. Only a few of Waldon’s men would be working on that; the rest he’d have building the road. He felt exposed somehow, almost awkward, but knew he had to stay with the daily inspection routine. Whoever had...

Scribblings From the Mist: The Blessing & Curse of Self-Imposed Limits

http://www.scribblingsfromthemist.blogspot.com/2011/12/blessing-curse-of-self-imposed-limits.html

Monday, December 12, 2011. The Blessing and Curse of Self-Imposed Limits. This year has been a year of experimentation for me. I've undertaken two huge projects, both exercises in self-imposed deadlines, and both have been profoundly beneficial, but with costs. The first enormous task I undertook was the Goodread. S 2011 Reading Challenge. I'd felt that for the longest time I hadn't been reading enough, and it seemed like a good way to get back in the habit. The other, of course, was NaNoWriMo. I'm a fan...

Saturday, December 3, 2011. The Price of Independence - Rough - Day 2. Back to The Price of Independence - Rough - Day 1. What he saw instead was an elderly gentleman with pale blue eyes, sharper than his age suggested they should be. He was dressed in dark grey, scholarly robes, with a matching cap perched on his nearly-bald head. Embroidered on the robe and the cap in darker grey thread, subtle but still possible to see, was a symbol. It featured a central. Taking the letter with curiosity, his eyes na...

Wednesday, December 14, 2011. The Price of Independence - Rough - Day 11. Back to The Price of Independence - Rough - Day 10. It took several minutes after knocking at the door before it creaked open a crack and a wizened, cloudy eye appeared. A thin, reedy voice inquired, “Yes? Speak up, I haven’t got all day.”. Is that you, boy? I’m pleased you accepted my invitation. Come in, come in! 8220;Uncle, I believe you know Kaylene Aynesworth already? Why it’s good to see you again, it’s been month...It’...

Emma Larkins - Writing Life. Thursday, September 11, 2014. Page-a-day Book Release of Mechalarum. I haven't always been the best at keeping this blog updated. My novel Mechalarum is scheduled to release on October 9, 2014. In the meantime, it will be available for pre-order on Amazon. Head there to see the latest posts! The Freelance Writer's Resume.

Emma Larkins - Writing Life. Monday, April 5, 2010. The Freelance Writer's Resume. I'm working on publishing my first science fiction novel! Check out the Kickstarter page. To learn more :). A few weeks ago, I applied to write for one of the big online content sites. This site required that I submit a resume and a writing sample. So, I dusted off my old resume, tweaked it a bit to add my (at the time, somewhat sparse) freelance writing experience, and sent it out. Labels: freelance writers resume. The Fr...

Emma Larkins - Writing Life: January 2014

http://emmalarkins.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Emma Larkins - Writing Life. Tuesday, January 21, 2014. What's In a Blog? Choosing a Focus to Get Noticed. I've never been entirely happy with the way I've run this blog. True, after writing (off and on) and evolving the content for almost six years, there's a lot of value wrapped up in it. Even without publishing regularly, I'm getting a couple thousand views per month; I peaked at 4,500 last March when I ran my Mechalarum Kickstarter. It's hard to pick a focus when I'm interested in so many things.

Scribblings From A Broad. Ramblings from a fevered imagination. Fat – A Weighty Issue. So surfing the internet the other day, I came across a video clip of the singer Jamelia on ITV's Loose Women programme, expounding her views on shops providing fat people with clothing. Scribbling Sheet | Thoughts: scribbled and shared

Thoughts: scribbled and shared. August 14, 2015. August 14, 2015. In a lot of ways I drew parallels between Independence Day and holy, religious Puja days, when I was a child. On Puja days we brought one or more Gods into limelight, created a paraphernalia around it and performed ceremonies which apparently showed our devotion. So then, I would wonder, what about the other 364 days? In Bengal, you could mark it off to 360 days though). On Puja days, I could be a part of the ceremonies and mix in the crow...
