Sharon's Scribbles About Stuff: November 2012

http://www.scribblingsharon.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Sharon's Scribbles About Stuff. A fortysomething scribbling about Stuff of Life and Stuff I Like. Friday, 30 November 2012. I love finding hidden gems on my own doorstep and experiencing that 'wow why didn't I find this before' feeling. This week I took a trip to Newcastle's Lit and Phil. It's a fantastically located building near the Central Station and en route to the quayside, making it a place I have passed more times over many years than I could ever remember. As if you need any more encouragement t...

Sharon's Scribbles About Stuff. A fortysomething scribbling about Stuff of Life and Stuff I Like. Monday, 15 April 2013. Blogs, books and busyness. I know I have neglected this blog a bit recently but also know that it happens and hey the world hasn't ended! And if you're reading this dear reader, you are still with me and I thank you for that! And have stuck to it although not always 100%! I have never had and always thought I should have a routine, a definite time, schedule or window in the diary for w...

Sharon's Scribbles About Stuff. A fortysomething scribbling about Stuff of Life and Stuff I Like. Wednesday, 1 January 2014. New Year's Day - not the best time to make resolutions but a good time to take action and do things. So I'm keen to get back to blogging and here I am! So here is a start - just a short one for now but a start all the same - dipping my toe back into the blogging and writing waters. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sharon's Scribbles About Stuff. A fortysomething scribbling about Stuff of Life and Stuff I Like. Sunday, 30 June 2013. June-athon went all Wrong-athon. Seriously, time flies and all that but this feels like a whole month didn't just fly but was transported via the Tardis! It started with good intentions, oh so good and oh so intentional. Just a run and a blog every day - that was all. Then it just all went horribly wrong. But dog's fine, son's fine and I'm fine. And so - new month, new challenge. It is ...

re-ravelling: March 2014

http://re-ravelling.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, 29 March 2014. Musketeer Madness and Finding a Hero. My current laptop desktop pic :-). I also love it because it’s something we can watch together as a family. Often programmes are just a bit too rude or adult for youngest son, or too dull for oldest son to watch. The Musketeers has been on for ten glorious weeks – it’s the last one tomorrow and then what shall we do? Youngest son does groan when there’s a lovey dovey scene and pulls a blanket over his head as he snuggles in beside me in...

re-ravelling: Time to say goodbye

http://re-ravelling.blogspot.com/2014/07/time-to-say-goodbye.html

Saturday, 19 July 2014. Time to say goodbye. This morning I had someone round to look at the house. It's too early to tell if they will be my eventual buyers, it's a huge decision to make and somethng I wouldn't want anyone to get wrong. Time will tell and once more I can do nothing but WAIT! Then I spent the afternoon watching Back to the Future 2 with youngest son, a great thing to do on a wet Saturday afternoon. It is time to move on, the kind words will live on in my heart. But I can change the future.

re-ravelling: A new Twitter writing dare...

http://re-ravelling.blogspot.com/2014/07/a-new-twitter-writing-dare.html

Wednesday, 9 July 2014. A new Twitter writing dare. Oh dear I've found some new writing challenges on Twitter from @storybandit. We dare you to write a 199-word story that includes the following words: scream toddler metallic glazed failure. Well obviously now I am back in a writing mood I can't resist, so here's what I came up with. It didn't quite go the way I thought it would but it was interesting to write . But now the medication gave her face a glazed. It was time to see if she could still scream.

re-ravelling: May 2014

http://re-ravelling.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, 29 May 2014. It’s half term and I came up with a cunning plan. I told the boys in advance before the holiday even began, “we are going to have a sort out! If anyone wants to buy this house we really have to clear out some of the clutter. I am not taking it with us to a new home.”. However I have made the momentous decision to finally chuck out ALL of my card making paraphernalia. I am going to pass some onto a friend who’s just taken it up as a hobby. But I am only passing on the very best and ...

re-ravelling: #VisDare - Precarious

http://re-ravelling.blogspot.com/2014/07/visdare-precarious.html

Monday, 7 July 2014. Recently I’ve been writing Twitter poems, mostly inspired by some excellent poetry prompts. A mere 140 characters – give or take – I’ve found there are many ways to stretch your word limit when a single tweet is not quite enough! However today I have returned to a more substantial writing prompt and I have up to 150 words to play with thanks to Angela Goff’s surreal #visdare picture prompt with the optional title Precarious…. Now here I stand finally ready to jump. Once again on my o...

re-ravelling: August 2013

http://re-ravelling.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, 31 August 2013. Pollyanna and The Glad Game. Last weekend we visited my parents and after my long drive Saturday morning we decided to put our feet up and watch a film. As mum scrolled through the films she had recorded from the TV searching for something good to watch we found “Pollyanna”. 8220;I haven’t watched that for years! 8221; I cried. 8220;Shall we watch it then? Your dad likes that one too, he’ll probably sit and watch it with us.”. 8220;Will she fall out of the tree and die? Why is i...

http://re-ravelling.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Monday, 30 June 2014. Who do you see when you look at me? At the weekend I went to a school reunion – it’s been 30 years since we did our O levels (as they were in those days) and went our separate ways. Of course some people never wandered far and most of us have one or two close friends we have tried to keep in contact with over the years. The advent of Facebook has been a great way to keep in touch with a larger contingent and it was through Facebook that most of this reunion got organised. And then I...

re-ravelling: September 2013

http://re-ravelling.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

Monday, 30 September 2013. 1 Money or property bequeathed to another by will. 2 Something handed down from an ancestor or a predecessor or from the past. Possibly one of the reason’s I have been feeling wobbly lately is that I have just paid for a new audio visual system to be installed at church. It’s not the sudden large withdrawal of funds from my savings account that have made my steps falter but the fact that this gift is my way of expressing Andrew’s legacy for the church he loved. I first muted th...

re-ravelling: An Angel's Tears (a story)

http://re-ravelling.blogspot.com/2014/06/an-angels-tears-story.html

Friday, 20 June 2014. An Angel's Tears (a story). A story because so often I make mistakes and say things I shouldn’t say … and sometimes there’s no way to take them back and edit them to make them sound better, or explain what I really meant. And because this picture from Facebook made a good writing prompt! My guardian angel hangs her head in shame. She despairs of me and weeps silent precious tears. Meanwhile I look down at the ground shuffling dead leaves at my feet. 8220;Do I get another go? I can t...

What was I going to call this little angel that was going to come into my life in the next week? Who would greet me every day when I came back? Scribblings from ZAMBIA: the Zambianization of Elizabeth Bennett. Monday, May 05, 2008. I know, you're stunned that I'm posting twice in the same day! Things have changed, definitely for the better! scribblingshane | from my mind to the page – often too quickly.

From my mind to the page often too quickly. February 3, 2012. Bike Snob Missed One. In his (fairly) recent book, Bike Snob breaks down the world of cycling into 11 groups. He mentions almost every type of cyclist in his “Velo-Taxonomy,” from the “prototypical” road cyclist to the recumbent riding, “Contraption Captains.”. However, there is one demographic he fails to mention:. The Court Mandated Cyclist. Bike Snob: Systematically and Mercilessly Realigning The World of Cycling. January 24, 2012. I’...

Scribbling Sheet | Thoughts: scribbled and shared

Thoughts: scribbled and shared. August 14, 2015. August 14, 2015. In a lot of ways I drew parallels between Independence Day and holy, religious Puja days, when I was a child. On Puja days we brought one or more Gods into limelight, created a paraphernalia around it and performed ceremonies which apparently showed our devotion. So then, I would wonder, what about the other 364 days? In Bengal, you could mark it off to 360 days though). On Puja days, I could be a part of the ceremonies and mix in the crow...
