Popped along to Hanchurch for a quick morning walk, basically so we could get out of the house and get some fresh air, but also Lesley has not seen Tree Pipit yet and with the conditions being favorable off we set. Monday, 16 February 2015. Again we just fancied being lazy on Sunday so it was a case of a spot of house work, put up a new bird box Gem has decorated plus the usual odds and ends. Then in the afternoon a stroll around Doxey Marsh, just the usual stuff at Creswell Flash, walking along to the new hide a Water Rail jumped up and then disappeared again, this seems to be my only views of this bird this year. Saturday, 11 July 2015. Paid another visit to see the Red Footed Falcon, missed out on seeing the Black Redstart but that just means I have another excuse to visit again. Tuesday, 7 July 2015. Our main birding day was spent on Anglesey firstly calling at Holyhead Fish Quay were we saw 6 - 8 Black Guillemots plus a seal which had caught a flat fish of some type. We headed across to Burton Mere on the Bank Holiday Monday as we didn't fancy driving too far, we did consider Martin Mere but the M6 didn't appeal to either of us so a more leisurely drive to Burton Mere was decided upon. Saturday, 2 August 2014. After finding out about the Pacific Plover that had appeared at Middleton Towers last weekend I had to wait the whole week in the hope that it would stick around, with positive news on the Friday directions were obtained and off I went with Gem. The journey down was fine although the post code I had took me to Kingsbury Oil terminal so after a spot of map reading the old fashioned way I was on my way again and was soon there. Well having a free day to my self with the Lesley and Gem going away to visit her parents I could choose how I spent the day, no real great plans of bombing off to some far flung corner of the country just a lazy stroll being on the cards. Sunday, 26 April 2015. Had a quick morning walk with Gem this morning around Hanchurch Woods around the area near the Wood-mans cottage. Plenty of Willow Warbler were around as we walked along the paths. The Goyt Valley near Buxton is somewhere I enjoy going for a walk but I don't often see much, there are plenty of reports from the area, but the best to date for me and Lesley is a single Tree Pipit and a Common Sandpiper, not quite the stuff of legends.
