What's Cooking?: May 2010
http://gourmande-whatscooking.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 29, 2010. My friend, Aly, and I were discussing a Barefoot Contessa Project. We love all of Ina's cookbooks, and thought it would be fun to cook each recipe of hers from all of her books. We even thought that we could spread the joy of cooking by sharing our finished products with friends. I am looking into the possibilities now! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Send me an email!

Friday, March 5, 2010. I am a mom of young children and have been living away from my extended family for a year and a half. This helps me explore the holiday traditions I would like to set for my family. Since my husband is French there is an influence and a culture that I also like to honor. For the past two Christmases I have made a. My mom makes Buche de Noel every year! She has a hand written recipe from my grandmother dated 1922. Im sure its deeeeelicious when you make it! What's Cooking?: December 2009

Monday, December 21, 2009. Meatballs are a really fun way to get kids involved in cooking. My girls just added ingredients like bread crumbs, salt, pepper, garlic powder and ketchup to the ground beef without measuring (I kept an eye) and then helped me roll all these little balls. My only rule was no hands in the mouth! I really didn't want them to get sick from raw meat. They listened and did a great job. The sauce I made was easy! These were fun and delicious! What's Cooking?: September 2010
http://gourmande-whatscooking.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 23, 2010. School has started and I feel like a crazy person. I am driving kids to school, waiting for yellow buses and hauling an almost 30 pound baby every where I go. There is not a day that I don't have a mild back-ache from it all. Since this new routine began, I have placed high expectations on myself to get my house in order too. So, with schedules and self-imposed chores I have had a lot to do. But, I am finding ways to procrastinate! And, luckily, since this sauce requires egg...

What's Cooking?: January 2010
http://gourmande-whatscooking.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Bacon is a wonderful ingredient. I use it in several recipes, especially soups! Recently, I made a homemade split pea soup and bacon was my first ingredient. However, when I cook bacon sometimes there is too much fat rendered to leave in the soup. I wouldn't want greasy peas! Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Steak for my birthday. I went to the local Amish Market to inquire about where their beef and pork came from. After seeing Food Inc. As were the steaks. Send me an email!

What's Cooking?: August 2008
http://gourmande-whatscooking.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 30, 2008. My daughter in the kitchen. Since Natalie turned two I have asked for her help in the kitchen. And, likewise, she has asked to help me in the kitchen! At first, she was crafty and dragged her piano bench into the kitchen to watch what I was making. We did buy her a stool to stand on. A proud moment for me. Natalie cannot cut things, grate things, or cook things. But, sprinkling cheese and herbs or pouring pre-cracked eggs into cake batter makes her world shine. I just t...I too...

What's Cooking?: Steak for my birthday
http://gourmande-whatscooking.blogspot.com/2010/01/steak-for-my-birthday.html
Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Steak for my birthday. I went to the local Amish Market to inquire about where their beef and pork came from. After seeing Food Inc. I am a little more careful about buying meat. The woman at the counter assured me that they were selling grass-fed animals from Lancaster County in Pennsylvania. So, I bought a few things including some nice looking New York Strip Steaks. As were the steaks. Also see my site. January 11, 2013 at 11:17 PM. Informative article here at my residence.

What's Cooking?: May 2008

Tuesday, May 13, 2008. We had a BBQ this cinco de Mayo and cooked up fajitas. Here was a fun way to present some veggies using sweet small peppers arround the platter. I liked how this presentation turned out. However, one thing I would change is that I would have another bowl for lettuce so guests would be able to serve themselves salad too. I think this presentation hid that possibility. This drink was served to me at Skates on the Bay in Berkeley for my Mother's Day Brunch. It was pr. Send me an email!
