StrongStart: Spirals
http://strongstart.blogspot.com/2015/06/spirals.html
What was today's highlight activity? What happens at our program? Come and find out! Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Since we have snails in our little garden I decided to set up this provocation. The trays are covered with sand and there are small containers holding different. Loose materials beside each of them. I also printed various images of spirals that I Googled. I discovered that the sand just scattered everywhere so I made a change for day. Children and their grown up helped. June 26, 2015 at 3:17 AM.

What was today's highlight activity? What happens at our program? Come and find out! Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Every Wednesday during the month of May we did a collaborative art piece. Week #1 we started by squirting glue all around the canvas. The freedom to just squirt glue without any purpose except for doing. They loved it. Week #2 we coloured it with crayons. The crayons add more wax as well as colour to the canvas. Week #3 painting with watercolour. That the paint wouldn’t cover some areas.

What was today's highlight activity? What happens at our program? Come and find out! Thursday, June 11, 2015. We harvested our last tub of spuds this week and we wondered if there were. Any potatoes in it. We pulled the plants out then dumped the soil on the ground. As you can see. In the picture there were lots of roots but no potatoes. We dug into the soil and found the odd spud but it wasn’t till we got closer. To what would have been the top of pot did we find the rest. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

What was today's highlight activity? What happens at our program? Come and find out! Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Another StoryWalk at a Picnic. Today was our annual Picnic at the Gardens. It was a beautiful day to be out meeting friends and enjoying many activities that were spread throughout the gardens. One activity was a StoryWalk with the book The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry and The Big Hungry Bear by Don and Audrey Wood. Part of the garden. I had cut in half and they had to match. Rubberboots a...

What was today's highlight activity? What happens at our program? Come and find out! Wednesday, June 10, 2015. There Was an Old Lady that…. At our picnic yesterday our facilitators performed a story. I wrote a new version for the story of There Was An Old Lady. Our old lady swallowed some bears. There was an old lady who stood on a chair. And swallowed some bears. I don’t know why she swallowed the bears but she didn’t care. There was an old lady who swallowed the some sun. She thought that would be fun.

What was today's highlight activity? What happens at our program? Come and find out! Monday, June 22, 2015. One of my favourite projects to do with the children, at this time of year, is to. Make a snail garden. This year we planted it in our see-through sensory table. I brought a piece of sod. From home and we filled in the rest with soil. We used wheat grass seed because it grows fast and thick. Every day we watered it and in less than a week our grass had grown and I. The day it moved in. Irresistible...

What was today's highlight activity? What happens at our program? Come and find out! Wednesday, June 17, 2015. There Was an Old Lady Part 2. Last week I shared a video of a story version I wrote on There Was an Old Lady that Swallowed a…Bear. After I posted about it a local family day care provider that follows my blog decided to make it into a felt board story. I had to buy a copy. I love it and had to tell the story to the families this week at school. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). SAND AND WATER TABLES.

What was today's highlight activity? What happens at our program? Come and find out! Friday, June 19, 2015. Nearing the end of the school year and time to let all our live creatures free. This week we took our frogs and tadpoles back to the pond. It was exciting to take the frogs out of the container and try to hold them. They were hoppy to be out, literally. We found it difficult to find the frogs. In the grass they were camouflaged so well. Up close and watching where we step. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Provocations for Early Childhood Education: WILD CHILD: Why I Wouldn't Trade My Childhood for Anything
http://provocations4ece.blogspot.com/2011/09/wild-child-why-i-wouldnt-trade-my.html
Provocations for Early Childhood Education. RE-thinking educational spaces and materials. RE-discovering the joy and wonder in learning. Our image of the child is rich in potential, strong, powerful, competent and, most of all, connected to adults and other children." [loris malaguzzi]. Friday, September 9, 2011. WILD CHILD: Why I Wouldn't Trade My Childhood for Anything. A couple of weeks ago, I read a recent thought-provoking and memory-inducing interview from blogger. And by the wee hours of this morn...

Forest Tots: Start of the Summer term.
http://foresttots.blogspot.com/2013/04/start-of-summer-term.html
How did we do it? Main Forest Tots Website. Friday, 12 April 2013. Start of the Summer term. The start of the Summer term (or the coming of the Spring weather, which ever comes first) always comes as a bit of a shock to the regular Forest Tots crew. For months on end it is just us and the stream and the mud. Quiet. Still. Safe even, in that familiar, same as always, sort of way. And then the start of the Great British Summer arrives. But that slightly crazier than normal feeling is. During the build of t...
