I love walking around and looking at all of the booths, trying new food, and getting the traditional treats like cotton candy, kettle corn, gelato. Need I say more? We live in Hawaii while Thad is attending BYU-H. Life couldn't be sweeter!

Saturday, March 17, 2012. They took me out to Angies for a yummy breakfast! Then they drove right back home because they all needed to get back for bb games, and other activities with their own families. I am so blessed to have such awesome sisters and a mom who would get up so early and drive 3 hours round trip just to surprise me with a birthday breakfast. They are the best! When we got back home, Thad and Ave were busy decorating the house for my special day. My favorite, Sushi, of course!

A quick visit to Utah. We went to Utah last weekend for Zach's sister's wedding. Stupidly we didn't take any photos to share, but here are some from the other things we did. We went hiking near Red Butte Gardens with Zach's family. After all my years living in Utah and never seeing a snake, we saw two that day. A small water snake and a good-sized rattler. Yikes! And we thought Missouri was wild. We got to meet Troy's newest member of the family. A beagle puppy named Copper. So cute. Kate with her pup.

Thanksgiving in New Hampshire. We headed to New Hampshire to spend Thanksgiving with my sister and family. On the way to get groceries, we stopped by an alpaca farm and were given the tour. A kiss from Cooper. Look how untrusting Lizzie is. They're wondering why he's wearing lambs wool. We took the girls out in the forest to gather nature to make a centerpiece. The girls really liked the crook in this tree and wanted their picture taken. Sophie LOVED running free in the forest. Anna loves the ocean.

Zach had the opportunity to participate in the National Arts Festival in South Africa this summer and since my goal was to travel to Africa by the time I was 30, I had to go along. Here is a random spattering of photos in random order from our trip. We were lucky enough to go on two safaris and spend a beautiful day in Cape Town. License plate of our safari vehicle. This is the project where I fell in love with hand-painting textures. All textures in the scene are hand-painted, and all designs are orginal concepts. I used 3ds Max, ZBrush, nDo2, Photoshop, and UDK. Click images for full-size version. Here I wanted to do something a little different from the hard-surface/realistic style of Demonflies. I also challenged myself to see how far I could push the diffuse texture without the use of normal or specular maps. I used 3ds Max, ZBrush, Photoshop, and UDK.
