the geeky knitter: June 2015
http://www.thegeekyknitter.co.uk/2015_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 June 2015. Barbie knitted skirt (june crafting - update). I actually 'completed' in one weekend. I did tell you I was taking knitting on holiday. Thinking I would get LOADS of knitting done. But I was at an all inclusive resort in very hot and sunny Corfu, and didn't appreciate how hot and tipsy I would be all day . So no knitting was done! But I had a whale of a time drinking cocktails and reading splendid books, and managed to design a skirt for Barbie when I came home a few days ago! And I...

Thursday, 31 July 2014. My first loot crate - july, villains. I first heard about this brilliant phenomenon on two of my favourite blogs - Dainty and Ivory. And The Sparkly Panda. And if you don't know what LootCrate don't worry, neither did I when I first read about it! July's theme sold me finally as I had been mm-ing and ah-ing about this for months now - but the promise of VILLAINS, with an exclusive t-shirt and a LootCrate only comic book up for grabs, how could I say no. And let's not forget the cu...

Saturday, 31 January 2015. January crafting - update. At the beginning of the month you may remember that I set myself some crafting targets for January. Something to structure my crafting and to really see if this was something I would like to do month by month in the hopes of improving my blog and perhaps some sales on Etsy. As well. I set myself 3 goals for this month, and I've had a mixed bag of results. Completed - write a pattern for my owl hat. And I've also uploaded it to Ravelry. So I have tenta...

Friday, 31 July 2015. Cosplay prep - jayne cobb (& lara croft cross over). So, yesterday I shared a post about preparing Ben's Kaylee costume. For comic con last weekend. Today I want to share the prep that went into my costume. I put together a costume for a female version of Jayne from Firefly. Kaylee is from Firefly. After Saturday I really fancied Lara-Crofting-it-up a bit, and did a sort of mash-up of Lara and Jayne. Though no-one 'got' the costume, it was a lot of fun! What a name, right? Finally, ...

Sunday, 28 September 2014. I think it is time for another Christmas themed idea-list, because if I leave my idea hunting any later than now I will panic about what to make for who and when will I have the time! I've already started my Christmas knitting anyway so I don't feel too silly having so many Christmas posts under my belt already :). To start off with I found this adorable pattern. Hats this year (I planned on starting already.but been up to so much already - excuses excuses I know! This moose de...

Thursday, 31 July 2014. Do you ever have projects that you really wished you hadn't started or that you feel so guilty about not finishing that whenever you start something new you have guilty pangs? The bag of hidden knitting was reclaimed and after a few false starts I worked out where I was up to with the pattern. It really wasn't that bad and with a bit of determination I have finished it - hurray. I also made Bobby a little crochet hat with a pompom on top. Tuesday, 29 July 2014. Friday, 25 July 2014.

Letters to Fiction: The Author
http://letterstofiction.blogspot.com/p/the-author.html
What is Letters to Fiction. Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real? Albus Dumbledore - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. JK Rowling, 2007). Don't worry, I know these characters aren't real. But that's the joy of imagination and being able to escape to these worlds and lives! They can feel real. Is something that I will read, and you will get the picture as you read the letters I write. Over time, I think you will get to know me and my ...

Wednesday, 22 October 2014. I haven't knitted for ages as all my spare time has been spent working on crochet projects and planning my crochet workshops. What a busy 6 months I have had. Kate had asked me to knit a hat for a friend who is having a baby and she also quite fancied a hat for herself. Kate chose some lovely wool and we bought some special Alpaca pom-poms. I have come up with a very simple but stylish beanie. Must get back to my knitting. Friday, 3 October 2014. Just had to share. Craft room ...

Friday, 14 August 2015. Ravelry project page -. Casting back in my mind, I believe the reason I decided I wanted to knit a vest top was that Elise. Had knitted a beautiful vintage waistcoat. And I wanted something like this under my knitting belt. Plus it would give me another layering option come the colder months. After looking through many patterns on Ravelry, I settled on the 28-15 textured vest pattern by Pierrot. The pattern itself is written as a Japanese chart - wow! These involved casting on mor...
