The Wilder Coast: This is what it means to say I'm getting by

http://www.thewildercoast.com/2013/01/this-is-what-it-means-to-say-im-getting.html

Thursday, January 31, 2013. This is what it means to say I'm getting by. I would like the world to know that I live in a shitty apartment. It's probably the worst apartment in this entire watery scandinavian neighborhood. The other day my roommate broke down the door to the downstairs laundry room because it had rusted shut. She's got a good strong arm. I met a boy two weeks ago who plays hockey. He was funny and I asked him on a date. He said yes and then he got mono. He got mono the very ne...And then ...

Monday, July 27, 2015. Find us on instagram @thewildercoast. And planning social gatherings! Hey, what are yours? You can tell me in private if you'd like. Anyway, here are a few of the things I've been working on. I thought some of you might enjoy looking through a few of them, especially if you're local to the Blue Ridge Mountains, or even if you're not. If you really like any of them, share them! That helps me a lot. Otherwise, I'll be back very soon with the wedding photos. Stay cool! Swimmable water...

Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Photo by Lee Timmons Photography. Follow the wilder coast on instagram @thewildercoast. How many times have I walked through those fields, at times unbearably grateful for the solitude, other times so lonely that I made a sport of earnestly searching for signs. Follow the wilder coast on instagram @thewildercoast. Of course, I say all of this as if we didn't have any help. Really it was my family that kept everyone fed, Anna and Brooks up in the morning making pancakes, dad ...

The Wilder Coast: The Story of The Wilder Coast

http://www.thewildercoast.com/p/story-of-wilder-coast.html

The Story of The Wilder Coast. The Wilder Coast Was Born out of Discouraging Algebra. Two years out of college, Melina was living in a basement, in the home of a man who collected floaty pens as a hobby. The studio apartment cost 850.00 a month, about half. Of the salary she made as the public relations director ("whipping girl") at a failing kayak shop. Like many people before her and many to follow, she woke up one day to the realization that the math was not in her favor. Half stories and vague. Teach...

Jo's Life: Perhaps

http://johannasalt.blogspot.com/2014/01/perhaps.html

Life doesn't always come out the way we plan it, but it is still as beautiful! Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Once again in the friend zone! Lately, I've been contemplating withdrawing myself from the dating scene altogether , once again. I'm really tired. Tired of the emotional roller coaster. Tired of not knowing from one moment to the next where I stand. Tired of hurting. Tired of dreaming and wishing for the impossible. Yet, I still hang in there. Why? Perhaps because I'm strong and can make it through?

Normal's Overrated: July 2012

http://unangstyteen.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 20, 2012. I woke up this morning with my Facebook feed once again filled with thoughts and prayers and horror over what just happened in our beautiful state (the last time being the fire. And there it is, splashed across the front page of every news site. I couldn't stop saying "ohmygod ohmygod". Because really, what else is there to say? So I'm sitting here asking myself what I do now. My life can't, won't, stop. That's not how it works. As I see it, I have two choices. Or I can go out and ...

New Zealand It Is Then!: Even The Man got intrigued

http://newzealanditisthen.blogspot.com/2015/01/even-man-got-intrigued.html

New Zealand It Is Then! A story of a family and a house on a hill. Things to (maybe) have in my home. Even The Man got intrigued. When creating bracing lines, would it be an acceptable solution to put piles on the outside wall of the lounge and the kitchen so that part of the kitchen sits on cantilevered joists? The fact that I even UNDERSTAND what the heck it means, let alone that I HAVE WRITTEN IT MYSELF, gives me a little kick. Filed under Everyday stuff. Things I write about. This blog is part of.

Autumn Leaf Farm: The first of August

http://thehuckinshome.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-first-of-august.html

August 9, 2015. The first of August. He begins to let his body slump into mine as we walk. The warmth of our body's tucked closely together, it's sweaty. It's good. Not quite asleep yet, he grabs for leaves on the trees we pass. I pause and let him touch and feel them. We follow the warn tractor paths. Paths used for decades and decades to cut the hay, to gather firewood, to reach the woods. As we enter the woods, the humidity is cut back with the cool forest floor beneath us and tree canopy shading us.

Mile High Hamiltons: Salty Dog, Sailing and a Spectacular Sunset

http://milehighhamiltons.blogspot.com/2015/06/salty-dog-sailing-and-spectacular-sunset.html

One mile above sea level and counting. Wednesday, June 3, 2015. Salty Dog, Sailing and a Spectacular Sunset. So, we treated the boys to some snorkel gear of their own. We were back at Siesta Key for dinner and a sunset walk on the beach. The rain had subsided but due to the threat of rain, I left my camera at our condo. As it turned out, it was a glorious sunset as the clouds parted and gave way to the sunshine. Oh well, we can't capture it all. The Old Salty Dog. The boys love it too! Mommy with her lit...

I could sum up our hike with those two pictures, but I think you know that's not my style. : ). Mason grabbed a stick that ended up being poop. Oops. Ok - I need details! August 29, 2014. Jason's brother and Matt sent me a sweet little mommy-to-be gift. So thoughtful. We found out we would be welcoming a healthy baby boy in November! We were thrilled (and would have been either way). We went out to dinner after and discussed baby names. Such a memorable day. Our first boy purchase :). Along with some boy shopping. Wilderbeast | Unleash it.

April 2, 2015. December 31, 2014. I am a creature comforted by things. These things make my heart beat faster, all strung together with loose threads of memories and bold acts of life that make it difficult to part with them. I am attached to the memories they hold. There’s a fear I have that letting go of them will mean letting go of the memories themselves; or worse, perhaps, letting go of a part of me, or a part of somewhere or someone else. These things told a story,. But on particularly murky day in...

Sunday, April 10, 2011. 2 gallons warm water. 2 1/2 cups sugar. 3 tablespoons root beer extract. Mix everything together and poor it in a bottle, and let it sit for 12 to 15 hours. Put lid on tight, and place in fridge. I didn't like it. Tasted like yeast. Like a bad burnt marshmallow. Mom says it should have sat longer before tasting. But if you let it get too warm it will go BOOM! Until next time Medium. Links to this post. Monday, July 26, 2010. Rainbows and sand plums. Links to this post. I few weeks...

However, there are sometimes circumstances that require us to get involved, whether militarily or financially. The Wilder Garden

Wednesday, 29 April 2015. The great thing about a blog is that it becomes your memory. Mine isn't great, and I lose track of time. So, I can remember taking out the last of the Leyandii. But couldn't say which winter I did it in. I thought it was a couple of winters ago, but looking back at the posts here it was actually 2011/12. Time flies. But Rome wasn't built in a day, so I've stuck with it and I reckon this year could be the one that comes good. Early signs are very promising. Monday, 5 January 2015.
