Up the Hill, Down the Hill, Repeat

Up the Hill, Down the Hill, Repeat. Hiking the Appalachian Trail. Saturday, May 30, 2015. Made it to Damascus, Va! Crazy crazy.we made it 18.5 miles in one day, and 75 miles in basically 5 days! Intense hike. It was the usual nasty finish to drop in to town, down off the mountain. About a mile of steep drop! We came out into town and stumbled through a park, found the rest of the team sprawled by a river, eating Doritoes! We went and sat in the stream, cooling the dogs. Almost indescribably glorious!

Up the Hill, Down the Hill, Repeat. Hiking the Appalachian Trail. Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Up last night until 10:30, enjoying the company and the fire. Overnight it got really cold up on the ridge. No doubt sub 50 degrees. We enjoyed breakfast, most going for oatmeal and coffee, and we were packed up and out by 8:30. Today is Monday, 5/25. Let me add here, a Happy Anniversary to Travis and Kim Bell and a Happy Birthday to one of the loves of my life, my Lily! She turns 10 today! Made it to Damascus, Va!

Carver’s Gap to Overmountain Shelter. Looking back at Roan Mountain from Round Bald. I don’t typically use two posts to describe one day’s hike, but it seems warranted in this case. The next three miles are outstandingly beautiful! Happy Hikers (though a little on the cool side). After cresting the bald, we start an easy descen...

Appalachian Trail Section Hiking. Section-hiking the Appalachian Trail: The Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee AT. Carver’s Gap to Overmountain Shelter. Arriving at Overmountain Shelter. May 12 13, 2013. The late afternoon light is warm, though the air is cool. Walking toward the Overmountain Shelter, it is clear this is not like any shelter yet encountered on the trail. Appalachian Trail Section Hiking. Section-hiking the Appalachian Trail: The Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee AT. Deep Gap Camp to Clyde Smith Shelter →. May 11, 2013. A humble gravel road borders the A.T. along the Unaka Wilderness. Not so today. Even as we hiked we were feeling the chill. So here we are, calling it a day at Deep Gap and we have two important items on the agenda: get shelter set up in the off-and-on rain, and get into some warm clothes. Home sweet home for the night. Getting ready at the starting point: Uncle Johnny’s. Returning to the end of last year’s hike in order to begin a new hike always makes me feel as though I’m returning to the scene of the crime. Up the Hill Consulting's Blog

Up the Hill Consulting's Blog. Wednesday, 7 May 2014. What makes a good Project Manager? When a project goes wrong the cause is often poor project management. So what makes a good Project Manager? Without a doubt a qualification can provide a junior project manager with a set of tools that they can use to manage a project. But does that mean they are ready to successfully manage a project? Saying ‘No’. It isn’t al...

Up the Hill Gang

Up the Hill Gang. Friday, February 7, 2014. By Jane Smiley. It was an entertaining read though it was slow moving in spots. It is a retelling of King Lear which is why, I guess, I didn't appreciate it as much as others. I have never read King Lear nor do I know the story. It's a Pulitzer Prize winner and gets great reviews. I've got nothing though.it was just OK to me. This book fulfills the USA Fiction Challenge. Iowa) and The Full House Reading Challenge. Award Winning" for The Eclectic Reader Challenge.
