No sign of any flycatchers though, but that could be down to crawling on my knees too much. Plenty of Willow Warbler though frequenting the boggy bit of the SSSI. Wanstead Birding: Breeding Bird Survey II

http://wansteadbirding.blogspot.com/2015/08/breeding-bird-survey-ii.html

Stu's sounds of Wanstead. Epping Forest: Its birds. Edward North Buxton (192. Breeding Bird Survey II. Almost 1,200 territories were found and mapped. Some proved a whole lot harder to survey than others, and some - Willow Warbler, Garden Warbler and Reed Bunting spring to mind - hardly troubled the scorers. However, there was no shortage of Wrens (the commonest species surveyed), Robins, Great Tits or Blackcaps. Many thanks to James Heal for producing such a very fine map. Tim Harris, August 2015. Wanstead Birding: Migrant watch 1, August 1–7

http://wansteadbirding.blogspot.com/2015/08/migrant-watch-1-august-17.html

Stu's sounds of Wanstead. Epping Forest: Its birds. Edward North Buxton (192. Migrant watch 1, August 1–7. Slightly more promising is that there have been a few more Hobby sightings, one even bearing prey off towards Bush Wood, while another bird had a bit of a set-too with a Kestrel over the ornamental waters–there can't be two pairs, surely? The first Buzzard for over a month was seen in the old sewage works, and an interestingly dark form at that. Brown Argus pics Dan Hennessy. Friday, August 07, 2015.

The Early Birder: Whinchat - Leasowe

http://ajonestheearlybirder.blogspot.com/2015/04/whinchat-leasowe.html

My Photographs from the North West and wherever I may roam. Let me know when that tide's coming in won't you. Sunday, 19 April 2015. Migration is in full swing and the birds are getting better, and still coming. An early morning start on the Wirral turned up a few surprises with a Sedge Warbler calling. A Willow Warbler was the first of the year, as were half a dozen Swallows. Only the second time I've seen one. I'm hoping I can see a few more this year. For now though, I'm happy with this one. 20 April ...

My Photographs from the North West and wherever I may roam. Let me know when that tide's coming in won't you. Thursday, 7 May 2015. Word came through on Sunday, of a rather scarce bird for this country, and even more so for my county. A Red-throated Pipit was discovered up on the moors of Manchester and Derbyshire (in fact right on the border of the two). 7 May 2015 at 17:40. A pretty pipit, much prettier than the American Pipit I think. 9 May 2015 at 10:03. 9 May 2015 at 10:22. 9 May 2015 at 10:30.

My Photographs from the North West and wherever I may roam. Let me know when that tide's coming in won't you. Thursday, 16 April 2015. Last night I managed to see my first Pied Flycatcher and Redstart of the year. It was getting dark, but I managed a few shots. I hope to see some more in the next few weeks. 16 April 2015 at 12:37. Flied Piecatchers (as I tended to call them in my youth! Are such great birds - used to see them in old woodlands in Devon. Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne. You did well Adam, e...

About Me And My Patch. Saturday, 8 August 2015. An off patch day today had me visiting Thursley Common with Marc Heath ( see his superb blog here. Dragon Habitat At Thursley. We spent 7 hours in glorious weather chasing down Dragonflies, of which we found 16 species, two of those being new to me, the Black Darter and the Common Hawker, although the latter only gave flight views, the former were seen in good numbers, giving lots of photo opportunities. Newly emerged Common Darter. 8 August 2015 at 20:08.

Pittswood Birds: August 2015

http://pittswoodpatch.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

About Me And My Patch. Monday, 31 August 2015. Heavy rain fell throughout most of the morning, but a short lived dry spell allowed me to make a circuit of Migrant Alley, before more rain curtailed the hour long walk. Looking back at my stats and comparing this August to the previous thirteen, they show this August had the fourth highest bird species total of 74. The sun went in for the last few shots, but they came out ok. Sunday, 30 August 2015. Needless to say not a single bird was seen in the vicinity!

About Me And My Patch. Sunday, 9 August 2015. Another lovely morning of sunshine, the last for a while if the forecasters are to be believed! The fine, sunny and warm weather didn't bring out many birds though, an early walk around the sheep pasture and paddocks of Migrant Alley was pretty birdless, just a few STARLINGS, Corvids and the odd flyover PIED WAGTAIL. Unusually this individual allowed me to photograph it as it preened. It's not quite what I was looking for on the fence lines though! Libellules...

Latterly mostly about hating birds. Sunday, 2 August 2015. A two day trip with mid July to the beautiful and verdant island of Madeira to get a few more Western Pal birds under my belt. Saturday morning from Gatwick, returning on Monday early evening. Quite a long flight with a tense landing! Car hire free via Avis using a free weekend voucher, with only £29 spent in fuel. Cheap hotel with a rooftop swimming pool but in dire need of air-con . Excellent and cheap food throughout. Madeira ssp of Chaffinch.
