Wimborne Railway Society Diary of Events

The society meets every Thursday evening at the United Reformed Church Hall, Chapel Lane, Wimborne, BH21 1PP from 19:30 to 22:00, with a 19:45 start, and a refreshment break at about 20:45. We also meet on Tuesday nights, (same times and venue) to work on the layouts and other modelling projects. Some special events and visits are held on other days. This page is devoted to the Society's layouts. The Society has a multi-gauge test track which caters for Hornby Dublo 3-rail, N gauge, 12mm (TT/HOm) gauge, OO gauge (four tracks), and a combined 32mm (O) gauge and 45mm (1/G) gauge circuit. The N gauge and 12mm gauge circuits have loops so that while one person is running their train, another can be setting up or removing their train. O Gauge – ‘Horton Road’. OO Gauge – ‘Wimborne, Dorset’. OO-9 – ‘Tarrant Valley’. Last updated: 2014 April 21.

Our members’ ages range from 5 to 85, and we have more ladies than most railway societies. Adult membership costs £20.00 per annum, plus an attendance fee. Juniors (under 18) just pay a 50p attendance fee. The attendance fee is £1.00 for members, while for guests it is £3.00 when we have an speaker, and free on other nights.
