Sparrow Haven: April 2012

http://sparrowhaven.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

A Suburban Refuge for the Rural at Heart. Saturday, April 28, 2012. Once the order arrived, we pulled out the tools and started building. We managed to get all the beds built and the existing soil turned and piled into the centre. We ran out of time so we didn't get any of the new soil or compost added to the beds that day. Or any day since. Links to this post. Sunday, April 15, 2012. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tomato Disease and Treatment. Back To Basics Living.

Sparrow Haven: August 2012

http://sparrowhaven.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

A Suburban Refuge for the Rural at Heart. Sunday, August 19, 2012. Canning season is finally here. The cauliflower, onions, garlic, and kohlrabi haven't done very well this year but to tomatoes sure have. We've had enough tomatoes to give some away and do three batches of canning. At the rate the tomatoes are coming in we'll be doing canning every weekend until they finally stop producing. I think that is great! Links to this post. Friday, August 03, 2012. In my last post I was complaining about the lack...

Sparrow Haven: March 2013

http://sparrowhaven.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

A Suburban Refuge for the Rural at Heart. Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Winter is Still Here. This time last year I had already planted my entire garden. The year before that we had a heat wave of 20º C that caused my lettuce to prematurely go to seed. This year the air is still cold, the ground, is still frozen, and we still have snow coming out of the sky. Links to this post. Sunday, March 17, 2013. PeterC and I were talking last night about where I should go with the blog. He suggested that I have be...

Sparrow Haven: July 2013

http://sparrowhaven.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

A Suburban Refuge for the Rural at Heart. Saturday, July 13, 2013. One of the biggest mistakes I see businesses making is a lack of respect for the customer and poor customer service. In reality these are two halves to the same problem. I call it "You Owe ME" attitude. I can name off several examples but the most recent one will illustrate the idea nicely. Links to this post. Sparrow Haven: August 2013

A Suburban Refuge for the Rural at Heart. Thursday, August 29, 2013. Time to Say Good bye. I will not delete this blog as I think it has some interesting stuff that someone, some when may find useful. I am shutting down comments though. Most of the comments I have received over the years were nothing but spam anyways. It has been a good run and I hope I touched a few people, made some one think beyond their own realm of influence, and maybe even taught someone something new. Goodnight and Good bye. I am ...

Sparrow Haven: May 2013

http://sparrowhaven.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

A Suburban Refuge for the Rural at Heart. Sunday, May 12, 2013. Of Gardens and Woodworking. It has been quite cool and damp here this weekend. Which is great! It means my peas, kohlrabi, and kale will have a chance to put on some growth before it gets to hot for them. It also means the pole beans will be a little late coming up, which is fine since I still haven't been able to get the poles for them. I'm quite taken with the maple piece sporting the copper crown. The crown is made up of a copper rond...

Sparrow Haven: January 2013

http://sparrowhaven.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

A Suburban Refuge for the Rural at Heart. Sunday, January 27, 2013. Minou and Spot by the Fire. Minou returned the favour by adopting and caring for every kitten we took in after that. As long as the others were smaller than him, he allowed them to chew, snuggle, bite, or simply lay in front of the fire with him. When they got older and were no longer kittens he taught them, gently, that personal space was very important. Minou left us last night at midnight. We had to make the hard decision to have ...

Sparrow Haven: July 2012

http://sparrowhaven.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

A Suburban Refuge for the Rural at Heart. Thursday, July 12, 2012. We have definitely been in drought conditions this last month. In the last 30 days we have been lucky to get 1 or 2 cm of rain in total. The ground is powder dry and the plants are suffering. Not just the garden, though it is suffering severely, but the flowers, grass, and even the trees are wilted and unhappy. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tomato Disease and Treatment. Sparrow Haven: October 2012

http://sparrowhaven.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

A Suburban Refuge for the Rural at Heart. Sunday, October 28, 2012. End of Garden Goodness. I don't know how often this happens to anyone else, but every year I get a huge number of tomatoes after the first frost. Most of them are so green they are white, some of them are just starting to turn pink, and some of them are half and half. Many people look at that, shrug, and turn the whole thing under. 15-20 lbs of green and partial green tomatoes diced. 2 cps lime juice. 1 cp dried cilantro. 2 tspn of Cumi.

Wood-n-Bone - Bone pipes, bone flutes, double pipes, drone pipes, bone carvings and more

Welcome to Wood-n-Bone. The name comes from the fact that my work is in two areas: carving bone and making musical instruments, both in wood and also some in bone. I have carved my first bone carving when I was about 12 years old. I made my first musical instrument not very long after that. Neither of them was very good, but what can you expect from a 12 year old? This site works best when viewed in Internet Explorer.

Wood-n-Creations Chainsaw Carving

Chainsaw carving is becoming one of the fastest growing art forms in the world. The chainsaw is typically know for destruction, but in the right hands it can become a powerful sculpting tool. It is one of the most physically demanding art forms and certainly one of the most dangerous. No one should attempt chainsaw carving without proper safety equipment and training. At most events my client may choose to keep what I carve during my demonstration to auction off and therefore make money for the event&#46...
