http://buckwheattobutter.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
The many roads to health. Friday, November 16, 2012. Winter Salad, California Style. Than I ever care to see again, our winter garden is leafy, spicy and growing at the rate of a full salad bowl every other day. Like I said, lucky. When I first lived in the Bay Area, years ago, I worked for a dear friend at The Gardener. In Berkeley. The lessons I learned from her are innumerable, and among them was how to eat a persimmon. Winter Salad with Persimmons and Pomegranate. A handful of really good spinach*.

Poires au Chocolat: Treacle Tart v.2
http://www.poiresauchocolat.net/2014/05/treacle-tart-v2.html
Thursday, 29 May 2014. Treacle Tart v.2. Though most treacle tart recipes on the internet mention that it's Harry Potter's favourite dessert, I couldn't find much detail or thought on the matter. So, to remedy such a terrible situation, I skim read the books again to find the quotes (thankfully I know them well enough that it only took an afternoon). And then got sucked in and shed yet more tears at the end. As Harry helped himself to a treacle tart, the talk turned to their families.". But Hermione gave...

Adventures with Artisan: Rich Quinoa Chocolate Cupcakes
http://adventureswithartisan.blogspot.com/2013/07/rich-quinoa-chocolate-cupcakes.html
Monday, July 1, 2013. Rich Quinoa Chocolate Cupcakes. This recipe receives a one-whisk rating because I did not use a stand mixer for the recipe. Mainly because I was not at home and did not have access to Artie. The recipe however does require a food processor or blender and some whipping machine (i.e. a handheld mixer) if you plan to make the whipped cream yourself. 1/3 cup white quinoa. 2 Tbsp and 2 tsp cup milk. 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract. 3/8 cup butter, melted and cooled. 1/2 cup cocoa powder.

Burrata and Heirloom Tomatoes. If you start with good ingredients, dinner often makes itself. Tonight, I simply sliced some beautiful heirloom tomatoes and arranged on a platter around a large ball of burrata, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, and sprinkled with torn basil leaves, gray sea salt and a little black pepper. I served with freshly baked bread. Camarones en Mole Poblano. Nosh With Josh - The Stories. The Year In Food. The Best Schools In The World Do This. Why Don't We? The Year In Food.

Crostini are simple to prepare and the topping variations are endless. Tonight, I spread a smoked salmon mixture on grilled slices of a sesame seed baguette. I recommend using wild salmon, which is more flavorful than the widely available farmed variety. 4 oz coarsely chopped smoked salmon. 3 tbsp. Vegenaise. 1 tsp prepared horseradish. 1 tbsp. capers. 1 tbsp. chopped fresh dill. Dash of lemon juice. Freshly ground black pepper. A pinch of coarse Alderwood Smoked Sea Salt. Orecchiette with Kale and Breadcrumbs. This orecchiette recipe from the January 2013 issue of Bon Appétit. Came out amazingly well. I adapted some of the proportions to serve two people, and mixed in some additional pecorino. 1/2 large bunch Tuscan kale, stems trimmed. 2 tbsp. (approx.) olive oil, plus more for drizzling. 40 g (approx.) coarse fresh breadcrumbs. 2 chopped garlic cloves. 1 tbsp. (approx.) unsalted butter. 3 anchovy fillets packed in oil, drained. Generous pinch of crushed red pepper flakes.
