DHD: Breaking Free
http://dustheatanddreams.blogspot.com/2011/06/breaking-free.html
Thursday, June 02, 2011. An apology, but not really, an anecdote, and a confession . and why not? I can't sleep anyway. Last week I returned to Nairobi. Two weeks of house projects in Loki came to an end, and I fell back into the warmth of my family, and the normalcy of life that could be anywhere, but it must be with them, together. Reine put me through the paces, reassuringly, as he does best. We turned, and slowed, stalled, and climbed. Let's see a soft field takeoff on the grass.". We went back to th...

Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Turning left past Lodwar, I exhale. The trip becomes easy. Smooth roads and three hours of high speed driving will take us to our home, at least our home here on Earth. It seems strange to drive to Loki and equate it with returning home. But it's true. The thought rings in my brain "Where is home? I guess it's a place I have never seen.". No way. I fixed that problem already. FIve minutes later the problem reoccurs. Do we head back to Lodwar? As we speed on, I think about the...

Saturday, December 10, 2011. As the caravans unload, I realize this ramp is the end of the line for them, but for me it’s the beginning. In two days they cleared a drop zone. Meanwhile, several of our team DC3 began practicing air drops with the DC3 near our main base at Nairobi. After good results, they rushed to the drop zone. Over the next four days they dropped over 40 tons of food, shelter material, and cook ware. One of the staffers looked at me and told me “We looked at flying with you guys,...

Saturday, April 23, 2011. On the ranch with Izzy and Grace. Isaiah: I bet the kids here are never bored. Isaiah: yeah, because them live on a ranch. Grace: You wouldn't want to ask if there is something to do. You know cause you might end up mucking a stall, or something. Location: Satanta, KS. Thursday, April 07, 2011. Today is, of course, Grace's Birthday. She proclaimed everywhere we have stopped "I am going to be 8 on April 7! It's a big deal, and to celebrate in America is the best part. Pray for Br...

Thursday, April 07, 2011. Today is, of course, Grace's Birthday. She proclaimed everywhere we have stopped "I am going to be 8 on April 7! It's a big deal, and to celebrate in America is the best part. Breanna's sister found Grace's birthday plans on the floor of her room, and I asked Grace if I could share these on the blog:. After careful analysis, the major groups are: Cake, Place, People, Decorations, Wrapping Paper. Cake is Tres Leches (checked), Cat Shaped (x-ed out). Place is obvious,. Pray for ou...

First Wonder Goes Deepest: August 2012
http://firstwondergoesdeepest.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
First Wonder Goes Deepest. Sunday, August 26, 2012. It doesn’t usually start to rain until about 11 am, but this morning we woke up and found the ground covered with wet “foot fungus” dew and rain clouds looming overhead, threatening to soon pour forth their unwanted blessings. Our group decided to share a meal together the forth Saturday of each month, in addition to studying God’s Word. This was to be our first such meeting. I walked out into the pouring rain a little before 11 this morning. Walking ba...

First Wonder Goes Deepest: November 2012
http://firstwondergoesdeepest.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
First Wonder Goes Deepest. Tuesday, November 27, 2012. We celebrated Thanksgiving on Sunday with three fellow Americans, one Canadian, one Aussie and two South Africans. There wasn’t any turkey, but there were plenty of fresh veggies and berries from my garden. We feasted, laughed, chatted for hours and then ended the night by praying together. It was a lovely. And I do have so much to be thankful for…. I am thankful for our Didinga Bible study group. May God’s word do a mighty work amongst us all. I am ...
