Contemplating Change

Wednesday, 13 September 2017. Edinburgh and the Titan Arum. I spent a few days in Edinburgh at the beginning of August staying with our youngest son. These are some photographs of the city taken from Calton Hill. On a clear day there are good views of the city and surroundings. Below, looking North over the Firth of Forth. And a view of Arthurs Seat. While I was in Edinburgh, one of the world's biggest flowers was blooming in the Royal Botanic Gardens. Monday, 4 September 2017. Towards the end of summer.

Contemplating Change: early summer

http://contemplatingchange.blogspot.com/2015/06/early-summer.html

Monday, 22 June 2015. Almost a month since I last posted and the countryside has moved from spring to summer. I like the Scandinavian five season year, spring, early summer, late summer, autumn and winter. There is a difference between early summer when the foliage is fresh and green and the drier dusty image I have of late summer, with yellowing fields of cereals and verges full of seedheads as well as flowers. And I totally agree with you about the distinction between early and late summer. Simple temp...

Contemplating Change: March 2015

http://contemplatingchange.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 3 March 2015. The end of winter. Its March already, the month we can officially think of as the beginning of spring and so it follows these are the last days of winter. This year I have enjoyed February and am almost sorry it is over. Usually I am tired of the bleak cold weather but this year has been the mildest for years and I've lingered with my camera on my winter walks. Winter gently fading into spring. Contemplating Change: July 2014

http://contemplatingchange.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, 26 July 2014. I have noticed this field, yellow with corn marigolds, for a few weeks. Today I walked down with my camera to take a closer look. The flowers are growing amongst a crop of peas but in this area the marigolds seem to have the upper hand. The individual flowers are very striking. A definition of a weed is " a plant growing in the wrong place" - the farmer might not welcome these flowers but the field did look particularly beautiful in the sunshine. Wednesday, 23 July 2014. At This T...

Contemplating Change

http://contemplatingchange.blogspot.com/index.html

Monday, 1 August 2016. Hello there. All is fine here. I haven't posted in a while, there is a lot going on at the moment in my non-blog world and I couldn't seem to find the space in my head to think about blogging. As it is the first day of a new month I wanted to try and get started again. These are a few photographs from my walk yesterday. I usually post pictures of the landscape and mainly flowers so for a change, some cows having their breakfast. A butterfly sunning itself on the brambles. The weath...

Becoming A Sensible Vermonter. Purpose of this Blog. August 12, 2010. August 12, 2010. When I came home from work on Friday, not only was I surprise by a chilled bottle of strawberry wine, but a freshly baked loaf of baguette. I’m blessed with husband who has decided he likes baking! We decided we wanted to try our hand at making our own pasta, so Sunday evening was experiment time. All it takes is some eggs and flour, and if you can make a pie crust, you can make pasta! For trying the recipe.🙂. A store...

Becoming A Sensible Vermonter. Purpose of this Blog. Blueberries, Pickels, and Wine. July 25, 2010. July 25, 2010. After a long break, I’m slowly making my way back to this blog. This spring was pretty crazy with a lot of personal life changes. There was some family issues, a much needed job change, a well deserved vacation, a lot of gardening, and now, things are slowly quieting down. We’ve been keeping ourselves busy with all kinds of projects since April! We’ve been doing plenty of picking on ou...

Becoming A Sensible Vermonter. Purpose of this Blog. September 6, 2010. September 6, 2010. Our sunflowers have been very productive this year! The heads are drooping under their weight, and our tallest one comes in at about 10′ 4″. A very happy bee. This one is almost ready for drying. We’ll have to keep an eye on it and claim it before the birds do! I’m only 5’4″ – it’s fun to know the tallest one is almost TWICE my height! 6 thoughts on “ Sunflowers. September 7, 2010 at 6:29 pm. March 29, 2010 by artbystrongheart. Two years ago I started to work on this room. I tore out a closet (see before pic below) and began painting the room. It has been half painted for these two years. Calling All the Proud Voters. May 30, 2015. May 29, 2015. I know the British people and they are not passengers – they are drivers. Is it that in this current era of class dealignment, they are ashamed to say whom they voted for? Contemplating Chaos | Finding order in a disordered world

Finding order in a disordered world. About us and this blog. October 10, 2011. I’m not totally oblivious to the Church calendar (not usually, anyway). I did, in fact, realize that the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary was three days ago. I also started drafting a blog post to commemorate this high feast of our faith, but little miss Rosalyn decided that she had alternative plans for my evening. Hence, the delay. :-). Since I can remember, I’ve always been the kind of Catholic who. October 4, 2011.
