Stitch Journal: June 2015
http://gopikanathstitchjournal.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
A contemporary embroiderer's journal - of images, thread, fabric, colours and textures that evoke living, through the language of stitch. Wednesday, 24 June 2015. Knots, a Long Way. All who know, those who've attempted those tricky stunts, have all said we shouldn't keep the thread too long. But I was in a hurry. I had so much I needed to do. A Misplaced Universe [ Review - Jayashree Burman, Gallery Art Alive]. 8217;s metropolises may consider themselves emancipated for their assertion in breaking the glass ceiling in the corporate world, but is the Indian woman really freed from the rituals and tradition that are deeply etched in our psyche? A contemporary embroiderer's journal - of images, thread, fabric, colours and textures that evoke living, through the language of stitch. Sunday, 24 May 2015. Like the surface of the moon. Marked with its shadows. The hollow of the empty cup. Gleamed through rings of debris. Of a flavourful brew. Like the women of Bengal. I sewed stitch by stitch. Under the shadow of this light,. Ruching, puckering, quilting. That canvas of emotions. There is no meaning for some things. But without this anchor. Maggie Ba...

A contemporary embroiderer's journal - of images, thread, fabric, colours and textures that evoke living, through the language of stitch. Friday, 14 March 2014. Can We Celebrate The Stains of Being? I have started looking at these as the marks of experience that are proof of having lived. And the larger the gamut of emotions, the more full one’s life has been. They were the marks of winning and losing and of falling and failing. Much like watching one’s thoughts through the process of meditation, t...
