KITCHEN IN THE SAND: Panzanella (Tuscan bread and tomato salad)
https://kitcheninthesand.blogspot.com/2015/06/panzanella-tuscan-bread-and-tomato-salad.html
KITCHEN IN THE SAND. Monday, 8 June 2015. Panzanella (Tuscan bread and tomato salad). I always love trying new dishes and recipes, making variations on familiar ones, experimenting with ingredients, spices and techniques. But there are some traditional recipes that I consider almost perfect in their original, classical version and that I therefore like to make without any particular innovation or personal addition. And panzanella. Belongs with honor to this group. Some legends say it's a dish of rural tr...
KITCHEN IN THE SAND: Wholewheat crostata and some news
https://kitcheninthesand.blogspot.com/2015/10/wholewheat-crostata-and-some-news.html
KITCHEN IN THE SAND. Saturday, 31 October 2015. Wholewheat crostata and some news. Well, if there are two or three people wondering where I've been lately and why I'm not posting regularly on the blog, I finally want to tell that some important changes are happening in my life. Please don't worry, it's nothing bad, just something that took most of my time in the last two months and probably will still take it in the next future. Almost the same as before, of course . Well, I'll try to keep you updated on...
KITCHEN IN THE SAND: Hummus (basic recipe)
https://kitcheninthesand.blogspot.com/2016/04/hummus-basic-recipe.html
KITCHEN IN THE SAND. Wednesday, 27 April 2016. Having spent few years in the Middle East, I've had many occasions to eat hummus. Is in fact a staple in the Middle East, where it is widely and easily available: you can taste it in most restaurants and cafes (and not only those serving middle eastern cuisine) or buy it fresh from supermarkets or have it delivered by take away / home delivery joints. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to taste a hummus. Directly from the bowl. By myself is an obvio...
KITCHEN IN THE SAND: Saffron roasted cauliflower with olives and sultanas
https://kitcheninthesand.blogspot.com/2015/06/saffron-roasted-cauliflower-with-olives_2.html
KITCHEN IN THE SAND. Tuesday, 2 June 2015. Saffron roasted cauliflower with olives and sultanas. For many years I thought I didn't like cauliflower, or to be more precise the most common white variety of cauliflower. Characterized by a purple head), but most of the times you will see her cooking, or better boiling, the green cauliflower and serving it as a side dish just with extra virgin olive oil. So, while Romanesco. But to be honest this is not my style of eating veggies. Don't get me wrong, I've...
KITCHEN IN THE SAND: Pappa al pomodoro (Tuscan tomato and bread soup)
https://kitcheninthesand.blogspot.com/2015/04/pappa-al-pomodoro-tuscan-tomato-and.html
KITCHEN IN THE SAND. Monday, 6 April 2015. Pappa al pomodoro (Tuscan tomato and bread soup). Is one of the most popular and prepared recipes of the Tuscan culinary tradition. Means mush (but it is also the term used to indicate semi-solid baby food) and, as almost anybody knows, pomodoro. Means tomato. From this description it doesn't sound so appetizing, does it? Like all traditional Italian recipes pappa al pomodoro. Can be found in countless lightly different versions all across the Tuscany region (an...

Friday, October 21, 2011. Challah Bread French Toast. I’m not a morning person, have I mentioned that before? I probably have. You can ask anyone that knows me and they’ll agree that I’m by no means a morning person. If I had it my way waking up at 9 would be an early morning. Don’t get me wrong, I love mornings once I’m awake and out of bed. Still, when you give me the choice of waking up or staying in my warm and toasty bed for another hour or so, I’ll take the bed. If you’ve never tried challah ...

July 22, 2015. Unless the yolk is super runny I can barely stomach to eat eggs, which makes scrambled eggs almost impossible for me to eat (I blame egg whites). So when I make something with eggs in it that I can not only finish, but actually enjoy eating(! I get a little bit excited. That’s where this four dollar frittata comes in. I could call it a “Hot Sausage, Tomato, and Parm Frittata” but I really like the sound of “Four Dollar Frittata” instead. This post has no comments yet. April 7, 2015. Rememb...
