Blogging in Bangkok: 5: quick post

http://www.lizinbangkok.blogspot.com/2013/12/5-quick-post.html

Monday, December 9, 2013. I spent most of the day preparing for my classes this evening (which, since it's the final week, involved a lot of baking! I've also been packing, planning, researching and making lists. Lots of lists. But it's time to crash and the only thing between me and 7 hours of Zzz's is this post. So I'll keep it brief :). Here are a few of the faces I've had the pleasure of teaching the past 6 weeks. Posted by Liz Swauger. Monday, December 09, 2013. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Blogging in Bangkok: 0: D-Day!

http://www.lizinbangkok.blogspot.com/2013/12/0-d-day.html

Saturday, December 14, 2013. Steph and I are currently waiting at our gate. 4:12am Bangkok time. Check in went smoothly and all our bags were accepted (no overweight charges! Love us some airports! The airport is pretty empty, and our flight boards in 20 minutes. So far, so good! Except for having to throw away every water bottle we've bought. (We're at 3.) It would seem that even after security is not safe. Thanks for all your prayers, keep them coming! Looking forward to seeing many y'all soon!

Blogging in Bangkok: Pray

http://www.lizinbangkok.blogspot.com/p/pray.html

How can you pray? In a place so saturated by Buddhism, pray that we can be bold and clear in presenting the gospel. Please pray Eph. 6:10-13 for us:. We will be in Thailand from June 2012-December 2013. That is a long time. Please pray that we are able to find rest and comfort in Christ alone during this time, and that He is our sustaining power. Pray Gal 6:9 for us:. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Mai Pen Rai: June 2012

http://claireinbangkok.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 29, 2012. That I am a native English speaker is the only fact that was considered in placing me with Erdene. Thinking back to my commissioning service, I said then that my only qualifications are that I speak English and love Jesus. Somehow, maybe on the flight from the US to Thailand, I forgot that. I thought I knew a thing or two about TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). During that flight, in my mind, I became a TEFL professional. I said, He is "Yahweh," the God of the Bible, t...

Mai Pen Rai: March 2013

http://claireinbangkok.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, March 2, 2013. A lil bit about Annie. I was chatting with my younger sister Annie on Line (our free texting app) and I asked her the simple but multi-faceted question, "what is God teaching you right now? She sent me an e-mail with her answer:. Even though we may think that a person will never turn from their sinful ways, God never gives up on His children. I now just want to keep shining as a light on campus and I want to use my words to bring others to Christ! Many of us share Annie's insecur...

Mai Pen Rai: January 2013

http://claireinbangkok.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 13, 2013. Over the break between terms, Liz and I got to visit our friend Tan's village in Laos. It was about a 15 hour trip to get there and 12 hours back by bus. I won't bore you with all the details of our journeys there or back but I'd like to share some photos from the trip. Liz brought her digital camera along and it definitely came in handy! Tan and I. The river behind us is where we bathed every day, right next to the ducks! The building you see in the background is their Buddhist...

Friday, April 5, 2013. Q&A Series: On Faith and Freedom. Congregation at ECB [ Source. Question: Do you find any repression of the Christian faith in Thailand or are they pretty free to worship like us? The word "Thai" actually means "free.". I hope in the future to feature some stories from my Thai friends who converted to Christianity. They have a unique perspective to offer on a topic about which I can only speak in generalities. Also, great news. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Be a Monthly Sponsor.

Sunday, May 26, 2013. A while back I promised I would feature some stories from Thai believers. Well, today I am fulfilling that promise! Chao is a very special part of our LifePoint BKK family. I am constantly encouraged by his faith, humility, and love that he displays. Thank you Chao for sharing your testimony here on my blog! Please bear in mind that English is Chao's second language so if anything is unclear, you can blame me because I edited it ;). 1 When did you first hear about Christianity?

Not My Own: Get to Know Me

http://landryinbangkok.blogspot.com/p/get-to-know-me.html

I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace." Acts 20:24. Get to Know Me. Get to Know Me. He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit." Liz: in Bolivia

Monday, June 13, 2011. Days 108 - 115. the ugliest rings in the world. My very last week in Bolivia! I was desperate to finish everything and do as much as I possibly could. I had a delightful parting gift from the transition house - chocolate cake! Another volunteer and I got to take huge slices with us when we left. It was wonderful! A little awkward walking around the plaza with bags of cake though. Anyways, in the evening we watched Will and Kate's wedding. Longest aisle in the world! My last full da...

In His name the nations will put their hope! Matthew 12:21

Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Was quite an interesting day. This morning we went to a city about 45 minutes from Campinas and gave two school meetings. The students (all highschoolers) responded well. Brandon has been a bit hit with the ladies down here. Considering he is several inches taller than me, the girls don't seem to care that he's 15. That made for some interesting situations at the school this afternoon and evening when the team went back for more meetings. Tomorrow after lunch we will set off on ...

Abroad in Chile

Wednesday, July 14, 2004. Well I'm actually back home now, but I never posted about my last few weeks, so I'll do that now and then talk about reentry. First, San Pedro. It was an absolute blast. I don't know if all deserts are the same, but the Atacama was like nothing I've ever seen before. The people were all really nice, and the town of San Pedro was very cute and had great food. I went with Rachel and Steph and we had a lot of fun together and got a along really well. As the sun was coming up:.
