Life As We Like It: California Living....

http://millersinokinawa.blogspot.com/2010/03/california-living.html

Life As We Like It. Relocated back to the metro D.C. area, after a 3 year hiatus. Tuesday, March 2, 2010. So we're here, in sunny California! That said, we live about a 5 minute drive from Kevin's office at Port Hueneme, Naval Base Ventura County. I hope he doesn't get used to it, because I don't think we'll be in Oxnard forever. As I'm currently a woman of leisure, I've been able to spend more time cooking and experimenting with recipes. While I don't have my own backyard garden for herbs, I've been...

Life As We Like It: Siem Reap, Cambodia....

http://millersinokinawa.blogspot.com/2009/12/siem-reap-cambodia.html

Life As We Like It. Relocated back to the metro D.C. area, after a 3 year hiatus. Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Siem Reap, Cambodia. After a few days in Bangkok, Thailand, Kev and I headed on to our 2nd leg of our trip, Cambodia! We flew into Siem Reap, which has now become a major tourist hub due to its close proximity to the temples of Angkor Wat. Owned by a Cambodian man who emigrated to Montreal during the 1970's to escape the Khmer Rouge, most of the hotel guests were French or French-Canadian.

One woman leaves her favorite river career in the Sierras to embark upon another favorite: fixing broken people. Friday, August 12, 2011. New, new, new. Everything is new. I'm getting inundated with emails from school for stuff I need for my Master's degree. I started a new job. I work days, mids, whatever I want and make a little more money. I'm in a new ED. http://riveracnp.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

One woman leaves her favorite river career in the Sierras to embark upon another favorite: fixing broken people. Sunday, May 9, 2010. I mean seriously, come on. There are nights (actually, I guess mornings) when I leave the ER and I wonder if people show up just to fuck with the nurses. That's not including patient's families. Let's not forget the MDs who sometimes lose their cool, because even though we're part of the healthcare team, we're still "just a nurse" to some of them. And yet, most of the time...

One woman leaves her favorite river career in the Sierras to embark upon another favorite: fixing broken people. Friday, December 4, 2009. Every day I learn, I am humbled by how much more there is to know. I've learned that fake seizures are indeed, obnoxious. I've learned that asking a parent, "How are you doing? When their child is sick and in your care goes a really long way. I've learned that more people should speak Spanish in California. I've learned to try for the "tough stick.". See this youtube ...

http://riveracnp.blogspot.com/2011/08/anniversaries-and-such.html

One woman leaves her favorite river career in the Sierras to embark upon another favorite: fixing broken people. Saturday, August 6, 2011. That's the Iron Door Saloon, in Groveland, CA. It's the oldest bar in California, and you might recognize it as "that place I stop into on Highway 120 on the way to Yosemite." We Tuolumne River guides recognize it as "the closest place to get a beer" and "Karaoke Night" (aka Thursdays in the summer time). It's also where Will and I met. He's kind of awesome that way.

One woman leaves her favorite river career in the Sierras to embark upon another favorite: fixing broken people. Sunday, August 15, 2010. It's been a while. There have been so many life changes, I can't even begin to start writing about them. Apologies to those who have left comments- when I write, I really like to spend time focusing on writing, and given a new job for both of us, a billion life changes, and a wedding to plan, I'm stretched thin. Ok, the short version:. None of them lived. The really co...

One woman leaves her favorite river career in the Sierras to embark upon another favorite: fixing broken people. Saturday, October 1, 2011. Healthy or paralyzing fear? Yeah, it's exciting. Sometimes I look around while at UCSF and I can't believe I'm there. It's everything I've ever worked for, and I'm doing it. I'll deal with that later. I can't even begin with that one. All I can say is that in this past year, I've been lonelier than ever. But that's about to change. Labels: MEPN, Nursing, UCSF ACNP.

Thank you ER, for giving me something that I sometimes lack: a spine. It's been helpful in more ways than just nursing. I've gained clarity that I've really needed. Things that I've lost sight of. http://riveracnp.blogspot.com/2011/07/teaching.html

One woman leaves her favorite river career in the Sierras to embark upon another favorite: fixing broken people. Thursday, July 28, 2011. That photo is off my boat on the Grand Canyon, which was a sweet trip. Full circle. Two years after starting the MEPN program, I'm now lucky enough and crazy enough to help teach new MEPNs. I'm river guiding rarely, working as a nurse in the Emergency Department a LOT, and teaching to really fill my soul. I never knew how much I'd love teaching. Their passion is amazing.

Millers in Qatar | …time for an adventure

June 13, 2016. We stayed the night at the Pyramisa Isis Island Hotel. Now, I know ‘island’ means surrounded by water, but I did think that in the case of most hotels it also meant ‘and connected to the mainland by a bridge’. But not. In the morning, we were picked up by our guide, Ahmed, and taken in a minivan to see the Aswan High Dam. There are actually two Aswan dams, but the High Dam is the more recent and significant. And a storage capacity of 132 km. Egyptian Museum and on to Aswan. June 11, 2016.
