Sábado, junio 10, 2006. I may need some "train the trainer" classes. Written Tuesday, June 6th. Today I had my last meeting with the food security steering committee, made up of elected community members to steer the food security strategy. Today I presented them the actual strategy as I will be presenting it, the new organizational structure, and started to plant the seeds for them to do participatory monitoring and evaluation of the interventions. These kinds of dynamicas are always kind of tricky for ...

Honduras: Reitoca - March 13th

Jueves, marzo 16, 2006. Reitoca - March 13th. In any event, the heat and the dust are two large inconveniencies that you quickly forget about, instead only remembering the smiling faces, the grand welcomes, the few successes, and the melancholy that comes with moving on. That at least is how I feel about Orocuina which looks and feels very similar to Reitoca. With the man just holding it straight up into the air? Angeli, Here and There. Monday, May 30, 2005. Posted by Angeli @ 2:15 PM. Sunday, May 29, 2005. The water is back on! Two rules of commute I've learned this weekend:. 1 When hopping off of a motorcycle (most common form of taxi here) to the right, one ought to be QUITE careful. I have a lovely burn about the size of a kiwi on my calf. Fortunately, the proper way for a woman to ride (in a fitted skirt, anyway) is on the left side. Posted by Angeli @ 10:37 PM. http://angelikirk.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html

Angeli, Here and There. Tuesday, November 21, 2006. Finally, the Pyramids. Yes, we did eventually make it to the pyramids, on our second-to-last day in Egypt:. I must say, with the first glance as we were entering the pyramid complex, I felt a little like we were entering an amusement park - some addition to Universal Studios, I suppose. It's not until you're right up against them that you really get a sense of how massive they are. And you're simply struck for a moment. Wow. I'm still not sure what to m...

Friday, me and Maria passed our CSN-exams with good results! I passed the oral exam for level B1, wich is one level higher than my class, A2! The subject we had to talk about was if using television in educational purpose is good or bad. In french! We haven't yet got the results from the written exam but I hope (and think! It went well. We had 40 minutes to write a page about our thoughts about permanent or semi-permanent make-up. I don't even have an opinion. Can't all of you come over here instead?

Ireland!

Amanda's adventures in Ireland. Wednesday, December 20, 2006. The bus ride there was surprisingly unpleasant. First, the couple in front of us started going at it and they were gross. Then I decided it was a good idea to drink a lot of water during the first part of our journey. Which meant that during the second part of the journey I had to pee really bad. And I was hungry. So I was really thankful to get to Belfast. Our view. Yeah, it was bad. City Hall with a Christmas tree and the international market.

Tuesday, December 7, 2010. Haiti Mission Trip Recap - The Last Day. Finally finishing up my way-too-lengthy recap of my mission trip experience in Haiti in July 2010. Sunday, July 18, 2010. I'm going home today! Excited, but exhausted. I slept hard on the Ambien from 8pm-5am (eastern). Woke up with soft, clean skin! My intestines are pretty rumbly but so far. nothing. I am persistently thirsty. I had about a 5 minute wait for the shuttle to the airport and realized, "Hey! But almost as immediately that w...
