Amanda's Haiti Experience: Haiti mission trip recap - Friday, Part 2

Wednesday, October 27, 2010. Haiti mission trip recap - Friday, Part 2. Friday, July 16, 2010. Waiting outside hotel, Jacmel, Haiti. Still waiting for our tap tap to take us to the party at the church. We were supposed to leave at 5pm. I'm getting a little anxious about tomrrow's travel so standing around doing nothing is difficult. Back at the hotel. Me with Marjorie, before the party started at church. She is holding the dress I gave her. Our American party dinner! After dinner, the Texas youth group k...

Monday, November 15, 2010. Haiti Mission Trip Recap - Saturday. And, finally, we get to the end of the enormously long retelling of my mission trip to Haiti last summer. Well, not exactly the end because the travelling took 2 days and the last day will probably take more than one post, but I can see the end in sight. Happy to return to normal randomness in the near future. Saturday, July 11, 2010. I took one before we left for the trip. 65279; . The ride to PaP went pretty well. The drive is through a "...

Amanda's Haiti Experience: May 2010

http://amandainjacmel.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 31, 2010. About 5 weeks to Haiti. This past week my preparations have been focused on building my support team. The support team includes people who are praying for me, people providing emotional or physical support in some way, and people supporting me financially. I realized, as the time was drawing near for my first chance to speak at church about my trip, that a lot of my nervousness was coming from some really silly assumptions I was making about my audience. I was going into the sit...

Sábado, junio 10, 2006. Don Marcial - Representative to the Food Security Steering Committee. Posted by Amanda Rives Argeñal @ sábado, junio 10, 2006. I may need some "train the trainer" classes. Written Tuesday, June 6th. Today I had my last meeting with the food security steering committee, made up of elected community members to steer the food security strategy. The dynamica, or ice breaker, to get them into the participatory monitoring and evaluation training is the tea making dynamica. These kinds o...

Friday, me and Maria passed our CSN-exams with good results! I passed the oral exam for level B1, wich is one level higher than my class, A2! The subject we had to talk about was if using television in educational purpose is good or bad. In french! We haven't yet got the results from the written exam but I hope (and think! It went well. We had 40 minutes to write a page about our thoughts about permanent or semi-permanent make-up. I don't even have an opinion. Can't all of you come over here instead?

Ireland!

Amanda's adventures in Ireland. Wednesday, December 20, 2006. The bus ride there was surprisingly unpleasant. First, the couple in front of us started going at it and they were gross. Then I decided it was a good idea to drink a lot of water during the first part of our journey. Which meant that during the second part of the journey I had to pee really bad. And I was hungry. So I was really thankful to get to Belfast. Our view. Yeah, it was bad. City Hall with a Christmas tree and the international market.
