A Quilter's Alley

Sunday, January 25, 2015. Eva Marie came to visit last weekend. Together we spent Friday evening, nearly all day Saturday and Sunday working on Bonnie Hunter's Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt. I had hubby take a few pictures of our set-up in my overly crowded sewing room. Messy, messy room. But functional. One day maybe I'll get things cleaned up. I was able to complete all the steps to the GI Mystery. And I am planning to change my block up a bit. Eva Marie has a whole row put together. I used my 3/4" hexa...

Saturday, December 27, 2014. Those of you who know me know I'm a huge Bonnie Hunter Fan(atic). The first Mystery I participated in was Roll Roll Cotton Boll. The pattern is now available in her book, String Fling. This was her 2010 Mystery. I made it to give to my daughter for my 60th birthday. See blog post here. Roll Roll, Cotton Boll. Then in March 2011, Bonnie taught classes in Pigeon Forge at Mountain Quiltfest. I took her class on Cathedral Stars. That pattern is on her blog, Quiltville. 2014 broug...

Sunday, January 29, 2012. What Tickles My Fancy? I have enjoyed participating in the Mountain Heritage Quilt Challenge the past few years. This year's theme is "What Tickles My Fancy? My answer is "Quilting, Of Course! And also Christmas decorations. The poinsettia in the center came from 'Another Season of Beautiful Blooms' by Susan Taylor Propst. I am so happy to be finished. A Quilter's Alley: September 2013

http://www.aquiltersalley.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 29, 2013. Fall is Truly Here. Each year Clyde and I walk around the yard on the last Sunday of September to check out the status of the pecan trees. LOOK! Some have already fallen! This tree is always the first to drop pecans. We opened one. Looks pretty good! I tasted it and it was ok. Still green of course! We have one tree that is really loaded. Look how the limb is nearly touching the ground. Don't think this year's harvest will be as bountiful as last year's but there will be pecans.

A Quilter's Alley: 2014...Year in Review

http://www.aquiltersalley.blogspot.com/2014/12/2014year-in-review.html

Friday, December 26, 2014. I've been gone a long time! So I'm going to "catch-up" by trying to hit the high spots of 2014. My hubby asked me awhile back (nearly 3 years ago! If I would make a quilt from his ties. Before he retired, he wore a tie to work each day. Being a salesman, he liked "conversation getter" ties so he had an awesome collection. I did manage to get the quilt top together. And now am in the process of hand quilting. See hubby holding up a corner)? Grandchildren in a "crazy quilt" style.

Tsquared Quilts, Cooks and Calculates Life. Monday, January 26, 2015. Then I made one for Jenna, a friend of Celeste's from work, that I met during Thanksgiving and I learned she is a huge Bears fan. She and I really hit it off. She is very much like Celeste, and is smart, fun loving and so cute. I want to do some writing on the magnolia quilt around on the black inner border, but I am scared. Maybe tomorrow. Sew long for tonight. Thursday, January 1, 2015. Have a great day! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Tsquared Quilts, Cooks and Calculates Life: November 2014

http://tsquaredlife.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Tsquared Quilts, Cooks and Calculates Life. Monday, November 10, 2014. Over the last couple of weekends I built an ironing table. The plywood seemed rather rough, so I covered the back with contact paper and then covered the top with a layer of 100% cotton batting covered with silver ironing board fabric. I staple gunned these down. I did not put the pieces around the edge that would keep it from sliding off yet. I wanted to see if I liked it before I put any more work into it. I had some plywood left ov...

http://tsquaredlife.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Tsquared Quilts, Cooks and Calculates Life. Sunday, October 19, 2014. Bogie inspecting before I sent to quilter. Last summer I finished a quilt! Close up of quilting. I chose a tape measure fabric with lots of the colors from the front, but I didn't have enough. So I put red paw print fabric on the sides. Close up of back with footprints and tape measures. Live the day well! Sunday, October 12, 2014. What is up with that? I did not fuse the binding on and it looked ravelly. (I know that is not a real...

Welcome to my blog! I love all needle crafts - knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, embroidery, tatting. Since moving to Mississippi in June 2014 and meeting the ladies in the Starkville Hoopers Guild and the Possum Town Quilt Guild, I have become obsessed with quilting! Refilling the bobbin thread in my sewing machine is almost a daily occurrence. Therefore, an Unwinding Bobbin is satisfying evidence that my work is progressing!
