Spain 2016 Birding List. Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Oregon 2015 In Focus! Its amazing how time flies when your having fun and before you know it we're back in the UK and our Oregon Tour becomes just another memory. But what a memory! Popping over to California for the day! Continuing north through the mountain ranges and National Forests along US95, further stops for varying days at Bend in Deschutes County and Hood River, which is actually a port on the Columbia River! Boatbirder.com: Bandon Area

http://www.boatbirder.com/2015/05/bandon-area.html

Spain 2016 Birding List. Thursday, May 07, 2015. Thursday seemed a less productive day and was spent exploring the Pacific coastline at Bandon, a quaint little city in Coos County, Oregon. We're here for two days and are situated on the south side of the mouth of the Coquille River. The city was named by George Bennet, an Irish peer, who settled nearby in 1873 and named the town after Bandon in Ireland, his hometown. Are abundant in the Bandon area! Many during our stay! Small flocks of Whimbrel. Last ni...

Boatbirder.com: More About Me

http://www.boatbirder.com/p/my-lists-and-me.html

Spain 2016 Birding List. Me at Lake Louise, Alberta Canada. I've been a keen Birder since I was about seven years old and have some really happy memories of my 'Young Ornithologist Club' outings with the school, hosted by a very eccentric physics teacher called Mr Scales. If I'm really being honest I should also mention that during my youth I'm sad to say that egg collecting was also a passion of mine, until at around 12 years old I realised the error of my ways! Education is a great thing. A big thank y...

Boatbirder.com: Staying Local

http://www.boatbirder.com/2015/05/staying-local.html

Spain 2016 Birding List. Sunday, May 17, 2015. Sadly, today was our final full days birding in the Oregon before we head back across the state line and into Washington for some sightseeing in Seattle. View from the South Jetty Observation Platform. Obviously use the shelter of the rocks to forage! It was certainly a little choppy today but it didn't seem to bother the many Caspian Terns. And shore bird flocks that flew by. In fact it produced a special moment for Dee and I when three Grey Whales. I'll po...

Boatbirder.com: Local Patch

http://www.boatbirder.com/p/my-local-patch.html

Spain 2016 Birding List. Napton Reservoir at sunset. Is a much smaller reservoir than the nearby Draycote Water and is located just opposite the canal junction. This is a deep water reservoir that feeds the canal system and so is useful for finding diving ducks and grebes. It has also been known to attract a good range of passage birds, and some fine rarities. A Ring-Necked Duck. In early 2006 for example and Bearded Tit. The following year and again in 2011! And a Spotted Crake. Only a short walk from t...

Discovering Alpine Birds: new Panasonic Lumix GH2 for Digiscoping

http://alpinebirds.blogspot.com/2010/09/new-panasonic-lumix-gh2-for-digiscoping.html

While I love this blog, I now pretty much only write on my other two blogs:. I would love to see you there! Sunday, 26 September 2010. New Panasonic Lumix GH2 for Digiscoping. At the Photokina last week, I got to spend a good 1/2 hour with a pre-production model of the Panasonic Lumix GH2, and so got it on a UCA, behind a telescope to check it out for digiscoping. The new Panasonic Lumix GH2, ready for digiscoping. Showing off what the GH2 can do. Resolving absolutely incredibly tiny dots on a tin th...

While I love this blog, I now pretty much only write on my other two blogs:. I would love to see you there! Saturday, 11 December 2010. The Macaws and I. And recently I have started to write a little bit about them again. Scarlet Macaw feeding on a Beach Almond nut. Photo (c) Franck and Christine Dziubak. In my regular fortnightly blog post on 10,000 Birds, I started with an article that looked at relationships between individuals in a macaw society. The Frat Boys of the Birds World on 10,000 Birds.

While I love this blog, I now pretty much only write on my other two blogs:. I would love to see you there! Tuesday, 31 August 2010. Living Koh Phi Phi. And doing a little birding on the side. Ah, the island life. beach. sun. forest. turquoise waters. I was not expecting much from Maya Bay, famous as the location from the Leo di Caprio movie "The Beach", but it really was a stunning bay. White sand beach, thick forest, remote. Wow. Posted by Dale Forbes. Links to this post. Friday, 27 August 2010. One of...

While I love this blog, I now pretty much only write on my other two blogs:. I would love to see you there! Saturday, 11 September 2010. Off to the Vogelfestival RUhr. It is very early in the morning and it still feels like yesterday, but I need to catch a transfer to the airport 'cos I am flying to Dortmund or Düsseldorf (can't remember which but I suppose my aeroplane will kick me off at the right place), and then up and off to the Vogelfestival Ruhr! Nb Muriel and her travels along the waterways of Great Britain. Monday, 9 September 2013. THE NORTH SEA . cycle route. Muriel's been a bit neglected this summer, as her crew have been away cycling the North Sea Cycle Route, a long distance international cycleway. We started from our home in Devon, cycling from Exmouth along Sustrans. Starting out - newly trimmed, like the grass. A lunch stop along England's lovely south coast. Boatbird | What's going on in Boatbird Land – Narrowboating and South Africa

What's going on in Boatbird Land – Narrowboating and South Africa. Good name for a boatie blog. But this isn’t that; it’s just what I do at this time of year – me and millions of others I suspect – reflect on the year that’s passing. I hate to be negative but 2016 hasn’t been a great year, one way or another. I lost a brother. Countless celebrities lives ended – we lost such a lot of talent in 2016, many of whom were great inspirations of mine. I suppose we tend to see them as immortal. Then there was th...

Life at wing afloat. Friday, 22 May 2009. What a gorgeous day off! I found two new regular clients for my cleaning today! Then our friend Piano Dave rang us to say he was down near the boat and we arranged to meet up. We gave him some of the tablets that David no longer needs for his prostate- saving Dave some money and giving us a feel-good feeling about helping a friend. It was so nice to lie on a sandy beach rather than a pebbly one- I even went for a swim which was lovely- first swim of the year!

Boatbird | What's going on in Boatbird Land – Narrowboating and South Africa

What's going on in Boatbird Land – Narrowboating and South Africa. I was busy with the internet ablutions earlier; catching up with the e mails/favourite blogs/facebook and so on and came across a post from blogging buddies of mine on NB Tumbleweed. They wrote of a boat trip to Ely, which evoked memories of the time, five years ago now, when John and I had just started out on our mission to move Hobo from Hartford Marina to destinations unknown. We’d unplugged…. Negotiated that awkward reverse…. At silly...
