Sunday, December 29, 2013. The Christmas celebrations go on and on! Michigan Christmas - - With Jon's Family. Adam and Jon really enjoyed their trip to Michigan to celebrate Christmas with Jon's family. They celebrated at the new condo of one of his sisters and they tell me it's lovely! As always, there was tons of good food and a gazillion presents. Grandma with a craft we made for her. I made these with a girls group this fall and then the boys made several for family member Christmas gifts. My dad and...

Taking a Sad Song, Making it Better. Discovering joy amid pain. Feb 18, 2015. Why My Forehead is Clear of Ashes Today. Middot; Leave a Comment. Although the life of a person is in a land full of thorns and weeds, there is always a space in which the good seed can grow. You have to trust God. Today is Ash Wednesday. This Lent, I’m taking the advice of Pope Francis, quoted above, and trusting more in God. I must. I see no other way. Filed Under: Ash Wednesday. Middot; Tagged: Anxiety. Aug 24, 2013. Somehow...

Just Like Mary: Thankful Thursday: June Edition
http://justlikemary.blogspot.com/2015/06/thankful-thursday-june-edition.html
Thursday, June 25, 2015. Thankful Thursday: June Edition. I am so thankful for a school break! And for a new dryer. A month without a dryer wasn't too awful, but I am not a fan of stiff, scratchy towels when hung dry. Look at this First Communion dress I found for $10 on clearance. Maybe it's not what I pictured, but the day isn't about the dress, right? Thankful for actually finding a steal! Thankful for a growing garden! I am very thankful for summer haircuts. Thankful for a first lost tooth! And for t...

Just Like Mary: U.S. History Plans: Part 1 (of 5)
http://justlikemary.blogspot.com/2015/08/us-history-plans-part-1-of-5.html
Sunday, August 9, 2015. US History Plans: Part 1 (of 5). The kids and I started into U.S. history late last spring. I am so excited, and the kids seem to enjoy it as well. My plan is to break it into five sections, and take a little over a year to explore the United States. Previously for history, I used RC History. Spine: From Sea to Shining Sea: The Story of America. You can also purchase a teacher's guide and a student workbook, but I am just reading aloud from the book. Grade 1, Seton) - I decided to...

Just Like Mary: 2015-16 Homeschool Plans
http://justlikemary.blogspot.com/2015/08/2015-16-homeschool-plans.html
Saturday, August 1, 2015. We are four weeks into our new school year. Naturally, summer is heating up, so we are torn between play and work. However, I know how much we like to play hooky in the fall, and with a family vacation planned, we need to crack the books now. Besides, it gives the kids incentives to work hard so we can still go swimming at the end of the school day. What's the basic plan? You can see how I organize school plans here. Mr A (10 years old, 4/5). Faith and Life 5. My Path to Heaven.

Just Like Mary: Some Organization Tips that Work for Me
http://justlikemary.blogspot.com/2015/06/some-organization-tips-that-work-for-me.html
Monday, June 1, 2015. Some Organization Tips that Work for Me. I like organization. I like order and "stuff" to have a place. I feel better when the room around me is neat. Part of me believes that a messy (not daily messy but chronic chaos) contributes to some of my migraines. Seriously. I saw an article on this once and I agreed with it 100%. It doesn't cause the headache but it certainly tips the scales when one is brewing. First, the family calendar. Last year I bought a Michele Quigley calendar.
