I either have them pass them up or just swoop around the room. I do assign each student a math number at the beginning of the year so abc order is thoughtless. That makes sorting/recording a breeze. Success for all, regardless of attitude or ability. My students do know this, I convey it to them explicitly, and with my language and attitude. I do try and create an ‘us against the world’ attitude too! July 17, 2011 at 6:22 am. July 20, 2011 at 3:38 am. July 21, 2011 at 12:51 pm. Do you have a link? You are comm...

Starting and Ending Class. Practice vs. Mastery. Starting and Ending Class. How do you start class? If you use warm-ups, how are they done? How do you end class? Starting and Ending Class. July 16, 2011 at 9:54 am. Get yourself a glass and a spoon – hit the glass with the spoon, await silence, thank the class and begin the lesson. Never use a verbal cue for the start, it creates too many sloppy behaviours. Never start while they are still talking. July 16, 2011 at 11:58 am. That classroom has spare time?

Building Our Casa | Building a Strawbale House in Pecos, NM

Building a Strawbale House in Pecos, NM. December 28, 2011. Since finishing the outdoor plastering in early November, we’ve made a big push to finish everything indoors enough to move in. The first thing that needed to happen was plastering inside, especially on the straw walls. The ‘inner’ walls (the ones between rooms) were important too, but not as important as covering up the straw. We were so tired of looking at the straw! One of our bedroom windows with drying plaster on the wall. November 11, 2011.
