Finding Joy in the Desert

Finding Joy in the Desert. Friday, February 6, 2015. When I close my eyes I can still see you. I can feel your precious cheeks on my lips and I can smell the scent that was uniquely yours. I can hear your tiny squeak and I can feel the peace I felt when I first held you and the heartbreak that incurred when I placed you in a bassinet and said a final goodbye. What would we have done for your first birthday? Would you have enjoyed your first cupcake? Would I have such a longing for eternity or would I be ...

Finding Joy in the Desert: November 2013

http://findingjoyinthedesert.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Finding Joy in the Desert. Thursday, November 21, 2013. What's In a Name? Why would God ask him to do this? This was not a name that we planned to use as a first name- but it has always been in the running for a middle name. No matter the length) he will be given over to the Lord. Tuesday, November 12, 2013. If God has made your cup sweet, drink it with grace; or even if He has made it bitter, drink it in communion with Him" (Oswald Chambers). Saturday, November 9, 2013. As I lay there- my spirit calmed ...

Finding Joy in the Desert: January 2015

http://findingjoyinthedesert.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Finding Joy in the Desert. Thursday, January 29, 2015. The Delicate Dance of Joy and Grief. It has been nearly 7 months since I last blogged. Without providing an excuse- I will say that my silence says much about this leg of the journey. Perhaps- today- I am turning a corner and I may be able to fill you in little with some upcoming entries. For now- I will be brief. Our grief is still very real. Our Joy is also real. This is a picture of Baby Bits. In both grief and joy-multiple truths still stan.

Finding Joy in the Desert: July 2014

http://findingjoyinthedesert.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Finding Joy in the Desert. Sunday, July 6, 2014. Blessed be the name of the Lord. I often get asked- how I am doing. A fair question for sure. Even appreciated as it makes me feel like others have not forgotten our son or our loss. The more I have pondered this- the more I realize that my old self is exactly that- my old self. It will never return. I have been changed by this experience. I walk in peace only by walking in surrender. When it snowed in February and March and my mind wandered to my precious...

Finding Joy in the Desert: December 2013

http://findingjoyinthedesert.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Finding Joy in the Desert. Wednesday, December 25, 2013. I hope all who are reading this- are enjoying a blessed and full day with family, friends, tradition and celebration. I LOVE Christmas. We are so blessed to have our Wiens' family here this year. We have been enjoying too many Christmas goodies, some good Christmas movies, a birthday party for Jesus, a few (okay- maybe more than a few) exciting gifts and some great family hangout time. How exciting it is to celebrate our Saviour's birth today!

An American Girl in Canada: deep sigh

http://anamericangirlincanada.blogspot.com/2015/02/deep-sigh.html

101 Things in 1001 Days. May FOOD IS FUEL Challenge. Friday, February 13, 2015. I have a confession to make. I've been sitting in the glider rocker in my daughter's room just holding her, listening to her little breath whoosh in and out of her body as she sleeps, for over an hour. It's dark and absolutely peaceful. It's fill up my cup kind of stuff. Back to staring at my daughter and restoring my soul with prayers and deep sighs. Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone. 101 Things in 1001 Days. May FOOD IS FUEL Challenge. Saturday, February 07, 2015. Turns out he DID have strep so I was extra thankful for her kindness. Having the three kids at home this many days in a row when it is pouring rain and no one really feels like doing anything has been.interesting. We made it though, and Rusty seems to be feeling much better after 24 hours on antibiotics. Rusty was sick this week and he handled it like a champ. 101 Things in 1001 Days. May FOOD IS FUEL Challenge. My son is getting older, and with that comes the funny and sweet things he says and does! I've been told to "write them down" by older women around me so.here they are! I'm "writing them down! Check back often for updates! Thursday, September 30th, 2010: Tonight I had put Rusty to bed. http://anamericangirlincanada.blogspot.com/2015/01/in-trenches.html

101 Things in 1001 Days. May FOOD IS FUEL Challenge. Saturday, January 31, 2015. I read an article on Huffpost the other day that got me to thinking. It was a word from empty nesters to those of us in the so-called "trenches" of parenting. I think these sorts of articles can often make us "young parents"-am I even really a young parent? Rusty is six. SIX! One thing that I do enjoy is blogging and I love looking back at my old posts to see what was happening in our lives at certain times. It made me r...

Being able to post from my phone certainly helps, yay for BlogPress! What I'm hoping to do is to ask the boys for a highlight each week, as well as something they learned at school and a random fact. http://anamericangirlincanada.blogspot.com/2015/04/perspective.html

101 Things in 1001 Days. May FOOD IS FUEL Challenge. Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Rusty had baseball and he and Kev were off for that and here I was at home. I was just putting Rocky to bed and Ruby was fussing so I was standing and rocking her in Rocky's room. He didn't want to be by himself because he is used to Rusty being in there but Rusty was still at baseball. God is good and he is there.I just have to open my eyes and look for him. Sometimes I simply need a bit of perspective. Posted by Stacy Kaye.

Finding Joy in My Journey

Finding Joy in My Journey. Tuesday, January 17, 2012. For quite awhile my children believed that a mommy went to the dentist to have a baby. Makes sense if you think about it from their perspective: food goes in your belly; it gets there through your mouth. If you throw up food, that comes out your mouth. So of course a baby in your belly has to come out of your mouth. What kind of doctor looks in your mouth? A dentist. See? My belly, as is illustrated by our after-dinner conversation. E: Oh But hooow.
