I enjoy cooking in all its forms as well as discovering the food culture of where ever I'm living. So much so that I have been known to do some slightly crazy things for an ingredient. New starts and taking action. Taking that first step is always difficult. It is even more difficult when you have to take that first step more than once. I'm still planning on keeping this part of my life alive but, you can also find me over on tumblr. Just search for nellimay.tumblr. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

I enjoy cooking in all its forms as well as discovering the food culture of where ever I'm living. So much so that I have been known to do some slightly crazy things for an ingredient. Fig and Blueberry Hot Cross Buns. The reason I've make my buns using figs and blueberries is because that's all we had in the house. 250g mixed dried fruit (I used dried blueberries and figs). 1/2 cup orange juice. 3 1/2 cups plain flour. 1 heaped teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/2 heaped teaspoon mixed spice. Add in half the f...

Saturday, March 27, 2010. Daring Bakers March 2010: Orange Tian. The 2010 March Daring Baker’s challenge was hosted by Jennifer of Chocolate Shavings. She chose Orange Tian as the challenge for this month, a dessert based on a recipe from Alain Ducasse’s Cooking School in Paris. My favorite part of this challenge was the pate sablee, especially dipped in the caramel sauce. The rest I could have done without. I may just be sweeted out for a while, and craving some good bread. Note: There are quite a few s...

http://marriedwithdinner.com/2010/07/23/ice-brined-garlic-dill-pickles

Posted by Anita on 07.23.10 8:13 PM. I’ve always wanted to make real kosher dill pickles, the kind that our grandparents might have bought from a barrel at their local dry-goods shop. Like sauerkraut or kimchee, these pickles get their sourness entirely from the fermentation process rather than the vinegar found in many pickle recipes. With the crazy spring weather we had this year, it’s still rather early here for cucumbers, but the CanJam. Challenge — hosted by Gloria at Laundry Etc. Right from the sta...

It started with " if the girl scout cookie is broken you dont have to count it. To eating a whole pan of Lasagna. Wednesday, March 31, 2010. I love all types of curries. One of my favourites is a Nyonya curry which is drier than most curries but bursting with flavour. One thing to note: do try to get the spice paste as fine as you can. I adapted this recipe from Rasa Malaysia. 340 grams boneless chicken thigh and/or breast ; (cut into small cubes/pieces). 1 lemon grass ; (cut into 4-inch lengths, use only the white part, pounded). 4 piece kaffir lime leaves. 1/2 cup coconut milk. 1/2 tablespoon lime juice. Lamingtons are amazing. Just saying. Vanilla sponge fingers dipped in chocolate and then rolled in coconut. The larger ones have a jam center and some have a strawberry icing instead of chocolate. They played a strong part of my lunchbox during school. 125g butter, softened. 189; teaspoon coconut essence. 1 cup caster sugar.
