Kitchen of Reality

Sunday, September 8, 2013. I am a lasagna purist, so it took me a long time to get on the lasagna roll bandwagon. The concept has been around for a while, but since lasagna is one of my favorite foods, I thought my way was better. Well. I might have been wrong. These are so good! And if you want to put them in multiple dishes to freeze, pass off to a friend etc, it is very convenient! 1 lb ground beef. 1/2 a 32 oz. jar of sauce (save the rest for the bottom and top). 2 teaspoons of pesto. Stir together t...

Kitchen of Reality: December 2012

http://kitchenofreality.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 28, 2012. Another recipe mom made while we were home… SO easy and delicious! 160; Be sure to serve with vanilla ice cream. 2 cans caramel apple pie filling. 1 cake mix (white, yellow, butter recipe—your pick). 2 stick of melted butter OR a can of sprite. 1- Spray 8x11 casserole dish and spread apples into the bottom. 2- Sprinkle dry cake mix over the top of the apples. 3- Pour melted butter evenly over the top of the cake. 4- Bake until golden brown—45 to 5o minutes. Kitchen of Reality: January 2012

http://kitchenofreality.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 20, 2012. I am not a big fan of meatloaf. Every recipe I’ve ever just was blah… or had about 5 ingredients I thought were gross. :) HA… and I wonder why my child is a picky eater. Anyways… found this plain Jane recipe for meatloaf and gave it a shot. For me it’s a keeper. 1 Tbsp brown sugar. 2 Tbsp tomato paste. 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce. 1 tsp dry oregano. 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs. 1 small onion, finely chopped. 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped. 3/4 lb ground beef chuck. 1 1/2 cup oatmeal.

Kitchen of Reality: June 2012

http://kitchenofreality.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 7, 2012. Easy and had all the ingredients in the pantry to make it. Just something different from a plain old boring pizza. Enjoy! 1 lb ground beef. 1 lb Italian sausage. 1 med onion, chopped. 1 bell pepper, chopped. 15 ounce jar pizza sauce. 1/2 tsp garlic salt. 1/4 cup fresh oregano. 1/2 C parmesan cheese. 8 ounces mozzarella cheese. Oh So Sweet: July 2011

http://emandmattsfamily.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

A way to share our memories and lives with those who are far away. I will miss holding your hand (so often) my little sweetheart! She's one proud little girl! And I'm one proud mommy! This one is a bit longer but highlights not only Madi walking but also talking. Along with Elijah answering a few questions. It really is so hard to believe that my baby girl is already a year old! We then went to the park to play with Natalie and Trevor. Madi climbed all over the tunnel, slides, swings.EVERYWHERE! She love...

A way to share our memories and lives with those who are far away. AND here we go again. Blogging just hasn't been my thing this time around. I feel badly about it too. EVERYTHING in Elijah's first year is recorded on this blog. Hardly anything has been recorded for Madi though. Instead of whining and regretting, I'll guess I'll spend my time on my little sweethearts! Madeline is nearly 11 months old. She is an absolute sweetheart! She loves to be loved and give love.excellent hugger and kisser! We didn'...

A way to share our memories and lives with those who are far away. Elijah turned 9 months old on the 16th. Sooo hard to believe! He also got a flu shot - such scary times with so much sickness being talked about! I pray we all stay healthy! A few pictures from the last 3 weeks. Keep up the good work, daddy! I made it through the game, but now I'm ready for a nap! EJ with the star QB and best "O" coordinator we know! I LOVE this football! CRAWLING through my tunnel. A few pictures from the pumpkin farm!

Stamp Acts: January 2013

http://stampacts.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 1, 2013. A sleepover with five boys and lots of noise! It was a good call on my part that this playroom was above the garage. The noise was significantly less than in the last house where his playroom was just above my bedroom). They played Wii, board games, had Nerf gun wars, watched movies and ate a lot! Foster said he had a good time and he deserved the sleepover. He really was awesome through the whole move. That kid never ceases to amaze me! Here's some before and after shots.

Stamp Acts: Love Thy Neighbor!

http://stampacts.blogspot.com/2013/11/love-thy-neighbor.html

Thursday, November 21, 2013. Foster and I weren't even in the house six months when I had ankle surgery that resulted in no driving for quite awhile and working from home for over two months. It is humbling to be so independent then suddenly have to depend on other people for even the most basic of things. And the list of help is long. Kristy staying with me the first few nights and making sure I followed all orders. Rachel and Jamie driving me all over Raleigh and Wake Forest. They brought over a bean b...

Monday, March 18, 2013. It's North Carolina and so it takes very little white stuff for school to get cancelled.much to Foster's joy! The first snow at the new house (back in Jan, my blogging is behind! Started at night just before his bedtime. Foster ran on the back porch, saw it snowing and then ran laps around the couch singing "It's Snowing! For my part, I was relieved! His friend Ethan hitching a ride! Foster and Ethan making snow angels. Even Max got in on the action! What a sweet kid! Alas, he lef...

Stamp Acts: December 2013

http://stampacts.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 22, 2013. Vacation I: Great Wolf! Foster and I vacationed with our friends Melissa and Ethan this year. It was, in part, because it was uncertain whether or not I'd be able to drive, but also because a vacation like this should include two. Smart, obsessed, baseball loving boys! Ethan's brother Jonah joined us for the Great Wolf part of the trip). And I could have sworn I took pictures during the quest but I can't find them! Here's a few fun shots I did remember to capture.

Sunday, June 24, 2012. Day 5: Animal Kingdom. Much of Animal Kingdom was spent, as you would imagine, checking out the animals. So this final post on our Disney trip will be more pictures than words—as it should be. We started our day off with the Safari. It’s always a crap shoot which animals you might see on the preservation vs which are hidden. But we did okay…. Best looking mammal out there! The cheetahs actually showed up better on camera than what we were actually able to see during the trip. And i...

A Kitchen of One's Own

A Kitchen of One's Own. Final post of June: What I learned. June 30, 2014. I went back to this blog to write deliberately by which I mean, to write at all. Part of me was curious: could I do it? Part of me liked the challenge, and that I did. Most of all, I wanted to connect to a different mode of writing I’d been letting lie for a very long time, to brush off old orientations to words not in spite. Of my academic work, nor in mutual relation to. So many people I know seek ourselves in this craft, if onl...

8220;They were always making discoveries, by accident and sagacity, of things they were not in quest of.” - Horace Walpole. October 28, 2008. For when I'm lazy. For the past week, all of my meals have come out of one of two boxes in the pantry (pasta, cereal), the freezer (full-on frozen meals, not just vegetables), a wrapper (since when do I eat 3 Muskateers? Or a plastic take-away bag (sushi, curry, salad, fries). . Seasoning and all. . I know that sounds boring, but, oh, it's so. Roast squash, simply.
