Thursday, June 25, 2015. Race Report: Sale Sizzler 2015 #1. Sale Sizzler's they live up to their name. This is the fifth Sizzler I've done and at twenty-three degrees this was the coolest conditions yet. I'm feeling relatively good running wise at the moment but never run that well in warm conditions. I was covered in sweat after a warm up so had a nice chill out on the grass by the track for the last fifteen minutes before the start. Thursday, June 25, 2015. Sunday, June 21, 2015. Going to parkrun week ...

Dan The Runner: Housekeeping

http://runningdan1903.blogspot.com/2015/04/housekeeping.html

Saturday, April 25, 2015. Avid readers of this blog (if such a thing exists) will have noticed it stopped dead towards the end of January when I was in the middle of my training for this year's Greater Manchester Marathon. So what's been going on? So I plowed on with the heavy training I was doing. Back to back weeks of 60 miles finally did it for me and I found I was limping when walking, albeit I could still run when everything was warmed up but it wasn't good. While it wasn't the kind of time I'd expe...

Dan The Runner: parkrun: A Journey

http://runningdan1903.blogspot.com/2015/06/parkrun-journey.html

Sunday, June 21, 2015. Where do you normally spend 9am on a Saturday morning? Up until three years ago I'd have said slouched on the couch not doing much. But then came parkrun. For those unfamiliar with the parkrun concept it's a free 5k timed run (not a race) held every Saturday morning at locations around the world. All you need is your registration barcode and the will to run. A slightly larger me at one of my first runs. Not three years ago but now I wouldn't bat an eyelid, just a normal Saturday mo...

Dan The Runner: Pacing Myself (and others)

http://runningdan1903.blogspot.com/2015/06/pacing-myself-and-others.html

Saturday, June 13, 2015. Pacing Myself (and others). The RRR pace team (l to r: Simon Howard, John Lambe,. Garry Bower, Neil Brock, me and Abigail and David Ellis.). I was running the 30 min pacer slot while pushing Abigail round in her pram so my wife could also have a run. Three quarters of the way round the lap I finally caught up, "Something's not right here Simon." I said I as started to pass. "I've only just got satellite signal on my watch." was the reply. This caused some discussion among the pac...

Dan The Runner: Manchester Marathon Training Week 4: Another Week, Another 100k

Sunday, January 11, 2015. Manchester Marathon Training Week 4: Another Week, Another 100k. Tuesday: 14.5k steady run. Wednesday: 21.5k medium long run to work and 8.7k easy to home. Friday: 17.3k medium long run to work and 8.9k easy to home. Saturday: 5k Oldham parkrun with Jan. Sunday: 27.5k long run. Total: 103.4k (64.2mi). Which is a great traffic free route. I've used the trip home on these day's to do my recovery run down the canal which gave me an extra rest day, and a lie in! The miles have jumpe...

Dan The Runner: Manchester Marathon Training Week 5: The "Recovery" Week

http://runningdan1903.blogspot.com/2015/01/manchester-marathon-training-week-5.html

Sunday, January 18, 2015. Manchester Marathon Training Week 5: The "Recovery" Week. Tuesday: 13.1k steady with strides. Wednesday: 19.6k run to work and 8.8k run home (total 28.4k). Friday: 7.8k easy run. Saturday: 9.6k SELCC Race 1: Leigh 2.6k warm up (total 12.2k). Sunday: 24k long run. Total: 85.5k (53.1m). A 53 mile recovery week, which actually felt easier than it sounds given the past two weeks were 60! XC at Leigh. I always find a Rohdale Harrier to race! Sunday, January 18, 2015.

Running Dad of Five | This Is Why I Run

Running Dad of Five. This Is Why I Run. This Is Why I Run – 30 Months Later. June 5, 2012. Running Dad of Five. There is something magical about the number 30 for me this month. I honestly need to fly to Vegas and play that number repeatedly. 30 months – 3,000 miles – 30 lbs lost. Why have I become a true Running Addict? Is it the 4 marathons, the 8 half-marathons, 2 200 mile team relays, several 10K’s, and several 5Ks over these past 30 months? And a plan to run a long distance race nearly every month?

Running Dallas

Yes, this is one of those things no one tells you about when you start running. Some runners may develop side stitches or rib cramps while running. Guess why. It's obvious now but wasn't four years ago when I started running. All my life I had been told to "Breath in through your nose, breath out through your mouth." Sound familiar? If you develop pain on your side right underneath your ribs as you run, guess what? Side stitch. If cramps develop in your ribs as you run, guess what? That's what I meant!

Running Dan — Marathon Training Blog

Follow me on twitter. Project Mojo: Week 3. August 9, 2015. Crash and burn . Unwisely carried on training through the week with an upset stomach until Friday when I flopped onto my bed as I couldn’t face an 8 mile run. An awful nights sleep followed as I kept waking up with a high temperature. I slogged my way round 5km at Raphael parkrun. Then spent the rest of the day in bed. I was meant to be running the Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1. Trying to bring a bit of positivity into week 3 of Project Mojo:. It’s ...

Run, Rest, Repeat. Are you going the #extramile for London? Something For Everyone: The parkrun Revolution. The Tale of Two Races – Part 2: Great Newham London Run. Hot on the heels of the Iffley Miles. I headed to the Olympic Park to see if I score a second PB in as many days at the Great Newham London 10k. Running Data

Dissertation writing and distance running in the lab and on the road. Thursday, April 29, 2010. After training for the half, I feel ready to train for a marathon (kind of). I am full of excitement but I am also a little scared. Who hasn't heard about someone dying during a marathon? I mean the first marathon runner died upon his arrival at the assembly in Athens (there are contradicting reports of how far he ran and where he ran to but still.he died). Get excited. This should be interesting.
