Category: Group - Sometimes It Works

http://sometimesitworks.weebly.com/blog/category/group

Debate class works best when you have a relatively small class size, but that does not mean that you can’t make it work for larger classes. I like to use debate in classes of 20 students or less and I group the students into groups of 4 or 5 per group. I also like to make sure that each group has a mix of English levels. If you are interesting in using debates in your class and want to hear more about the way that I organized debates in my class, feel free to contact me with any questions. The students t...

If you are tech savvy and have some spare time, try your hand at building a WebQuest for your students. If your students are tech savvy and want a challenge, have them form groups and build a WebQuest for other students to complete. If you’re not tech savvy, don’t worry because a quick Google search will yield WebQuests that have already been created and are ready to use. The class starts with all students standing and I put an image on the board. Then, I just ask a simple question such as “What do you see? Rdquo; I like to use “What do you see? Rdquo; because it’s very general and can generate a lot of varying responses depending on the complexity of the image. However, if my students are studying something such as colors, I may say “What colors do you see? Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Proudly powered by Weebly.

Board Games - Sometimes It Works

http://sometimesitworks.weebly.com/blog/board-games

This project is something that I first learned about while attending a Kotesol workshop. The presenter introduced the idea of having students create games as a group project and showed us some of the games that his students created. After the workshop, I immediately decided that this would be a great way to get all of my students involved in completing a fun English project. If you're interested in doing this type of project with your students, I’ve added a few files below. One file is a copy o...You don...

Traveler’s toys – The Rambling Badger

https://ramblingbadger.wordpress.com/2015/05/13/travelers-toys

Ramblings of a teacher and traveler from around the world. Date: May 13, 2015. While traveling in March I thought of an old American traveler named J. Bayard Taylor. Rolf Potts wrote in. About how Taylor basically walked across Ireland, Britain, and Europe. Was all this stuff necessary? It’s a decent read. A short biography of J. Bayard Tayor. Ramblings of a teacher and traveler from around the world. Books Change Lives: Bullying Edition. Date: June 20, 2015. It’s been 3 weeks since I’ve last posted, and a few things have happened since then: Going to Minneapolis for a few days, attending a few concerts, buying a new car and bike, and going back to school. I read an article in Reading Research Quarterly. She spoke up to the bullies because of something she read. If she hadn’t read those books, then maybe she wouldn’t have thought as deeply...

Ramblings of a teacher and traveler from around the world. Mad Men #3 / A new Don. Date: May 18, 2015. 8230;or does it? As the ending of last night’s final episode suggests, Don’s far from finished. He’s switching things up again, this time by meditating in the morning sunlight among the hippies he used to sneer at. But his going to a retreat lines up with his earlier exhortations about “moving forward,” for he’s trying to put his past behind him. Maybe he’ll go on to be a hippie guru? 8220;You can’t do ...

Ramblings of a teacher and traveler from around the world. Mad Men #1 – The end of an era? Date: May 17, 2015. Concludes its seven-season run tonight. AMC’s been running promo after promo with the tagline “The end of an era.”. I couldn’t help but wonder how. Did it get this much fanfare in its day? Both shows impacted TV and public consciousness and enjoyed storied runs. Yet when I think about. Something else comes to mind: DVR and Netflix, not to mention DVD and Blu-Ray, weren’t around when. Ramblings of a teacher and traveler from around the world. Notes of an Ex-Expat #1. Date: May 29, 2015. My old rock t-shirts were waiting for me. I gave most of them away to Goodwill. Wearing them reminds me of I don’t wear many t-shirts anymore. That time has passed. Even that black Atomic Records t-shirt; wearing that feels like the past four years never happened. I’m okay with my beat-up ’70s record player having all those stickers on it though. Or with spinning the vinyl again. I'm an English teacher...

Sometimes It's The Destination's Blog. Some say it's not the destination, but the journey. I say it's all about the destination. Knock, Knock …. August 13, 2012 by sometimesitsthedestination. Sometimes I come up with recipes. May 2, 2014. Middot; Add Comment. Toddlers are a joy, toddlers are a constant challenge, toddlers like to send their parents into panic attacks. Take for example, earlier this week. Hubby was dropping the dog off at the groomer’s so I was flying solo on our morning routine. To keep the peace, I let little A play with my car keys. sometimes i walk sideways

I was wrong but don't hate me. i've been doing it for myself. And her world is turning ’round, and on and on and on. Getting close. still it seems so far away. Kick me down and i will kick you too,. Isn't that what we're supposed to do. I could tell the truth but what's the use, it's been abused by us. Been a lot between us and I guess there's more to come. Don't turn around until you look at me,. Why don't you take a second and tell. Me what you see. Deep one perfect morning. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
