Sometimes It's Prudent: Christmas? Bah humbug

http://www.sometimesitsprudent.blogspot.com/2008/12/christmas-bah-humbug.html

Not too much. Not too little. Just enough. Monday, December 15, 2008. Actually, we do. Do Christmas. We're off to buy a tree today, I think. Not an artificial one - the children wouldn't stand for it. And not even one in a pot, because we've tried repeatedly and they always die, no matter how much trouble we go to. I don't know though, I'm always tempted to try again one more time. Way, and this year that apparently means. pizza! Posted by Gill at 8:55 AM. Why not, indeed! December 16, 2008 at 11:04 AM.

Sometimes It's Prudent: October 2008

http://www.sometimesitsprudent.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Not too much. Not too little. Just enough. Tuesday, October 28, 2008. I strongly disagree with the idea of increased government borrowing to try to stave off a recession. The risks are too high. What if it doesn't work? I want to know exactly what happens, please, if our country goes bankrupt? And I hope the IMF will set proper limits on its lending according to each country's ability to repay, though I doubt very much that it will. In my opinion, this. We don't want to live that way. It's lack of trust!

Sometimes It's Prudent: February 2008

http://www.sometimesitsprudent.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Not too much. Not too little. Just enough. Saturday, February 9, 2008. Someone (can't remember who, but it was a blog reader) told me you can pay monthly for a car tax disc, but I can't find any info about monthly payments on the DVLA website. Does anyone know any more about this, please? Posted by Gill at 4:20 PM. West Yorkshire, United Kingdom. View my complete profile. Dear gov.uk, you asked for my opinions. Sometimes It's Prudent: December 2007

http://www.sometimesitsprudent.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Not too much. Not too little. Just enough. Tuesday, December 18, 2007. Well, I'm not one. But how does it happen every Christmas, that we end up needing about 3x more money than we think we have? Even more amazing is the fact that we somehow magically end up with just enough cash to cover everything. This is why I still believe in Father Christmas - I can't think of any other explanation. Sometimes It's Prudent: July 2007

Not too much. Not too little. Just enough. Friday, July 20, 2007. Single parents to be forced back to work". There are some huge and silly assumptions in the title sentence, which I took from the thread about this news story. On one of the HE lists. The news story concerns the green paper published by DWP this week: In work, better off: next steps to full employment. Deadline: end of this month.). The government has been trying very hard to 'change hearts and minds' on the single parent issue. But I thin...

Sometimes It's Political: About Gaza

http://sometimesitspolitical.blogspot.com/2009/01/about-gaza.html

I moved the soapbox over here. Sunday, 4 January 2009. Have both blogged eloquently about this, and I've just watched America's only intelligent politician. Talking about it and other things. Well worth a look. I want to know what we can do, though? How do we stop these so-called 'pre-emptive' strikes, as Ron Paul describes them? It doesn't stop them. What will? I've read quite a bit about what's happening in Gaza and am as outraged as everyone else, but this post. Posted by Gill at 08:55. Mm well I don'...

Sometimes It's Preposterous: "GILLIAN, don't hide from your free Experian credit report"

http://sometimesitspreposterous.blogspot.com/2008/03/gillian-dont-hide-from-your-free.html

This is rant corner. Thursday, March 13, 2008. GILLIAN, don't hide from your free Experian credit report". Says today's load of aggressive spam from this supposedly reputable company. For the record, I'm not hiding from it. I just don't want it any more since I found out they 'needed' my debit card details and a monthly payment setting up in order to give me this 'free' thing. I think I might spam them back. Posted by Gill at 11:36 AM. Thank you for your email, which we received on 14 March 2008. Subject...

This blog is about the finding, growing, planting, nurturing, choosing, using, cooking, preparing and ingesting of plants. Saturday, June 21, 2008. Re-post: The real free (healthy) health service - Dec 06. Today's blog post was going to be another negative rant about the NHS, specifically the new Spine database, along the lines of 'NHS Consumes Itself', because there was a piece in the newspaper this weekend about Helen Wilkinson. Sometimes It's Preposterous: June 2008

http://sometimesitspreposterous.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

This is rant corner. Monday, June 16, 2008. I just want to have a very quick rant about the deliberate and cynical redefining of certain words in common usage, as I've been listening to the radio whilst working out in our field. And been feeling increasingly irritated by it. Is one that we've been hearing a lot this week, because people who are paid to be 'carers' are apparently undergoing the same fate as single parents. Work' doesn't mean work. Last but not least, poverty. So it doesn't matter what pol...

I seem to think scientists also worked out, a decade or two ago, that lorries actually go faster, downhill! Posted by Gill at 9:38 AM. Wednesday, December 3, 2008. Sometimes It's Plant-based

This blog is about the finding, growing, planting, nurturing, choosing, using, cooking, preparing and ingesting of plants. Thursday, August 2, 2012. My new planting system - all grown up! Here's the same bed at the end of May, again at the end of June, and finally at the beginning of August:. And another bed, on the same three dates:. And we've got two more like that. So the system worked: the plants grew really well in such competition with each other, and the weeds didn't get much of a look-in. And Spr...

I moved the soapbox over here. Sunday, 27 March 2011. A friend who works for the census. Has told me that partially. Posted by Gill at 21:29. Tuesday, 8 February 2011. I’ve always liked the philosophy of shared space. This is the part in which I’m particularly interested:. Sometimes It Works - Blog

Debate class works best when you have a relatively small class size, but that does not mean that you can’t make it work for larger classes. I like to use debate in classes of 20 students or less and I group the students into groups of 4 or 5 per group. I also like to make sure that each group has a mix of English levels. If you are interesting in using debates in your class and want to hear more about the way that I organized debates in my class, feel free to contact me with any questions. Following is a...

Sometimes I "veg"

Sometimes I come up with recipes. May 2, 2014. Middot; Add Comment. Toddlers are a joy, toddlers are a constant challenge, toddlers like to send their parents into panic attacks. Take for example, earlier this week. Hubby was dropping the dog off at the groomer’s so I was flying solo on our morning routine. To keep the peace, I let little A play with my car keys. To be fair, she stole them, I decided to avoid her rage and use another set of keys in my purse. And my cell phone. And my AAA card. Do I stand...
