http://thecornerworkshop.blogspot.com/2012/11/woodworking-in-america-midwest-edition.html
Handmade in the corner of my basement. November 6, 2012. Woodworking in America - Midwest Edition 2012. The MWA crew pose on Megan's 'Gloubo'. Well, WIA was a blast again. It was a whirlwind of fun, games, and woodworking. I'm still processing all that I was exposed to. I need to go thorugh notes and photos and hopefully make sense of it all. Stay tuned . . . The Corner Workshop: Turnings: Curvilear Bowls
http://thecornerworkshop.blogspot.com/2012/11/turnings-curvilear-bowls.html
Handmade in the corner of my basement. November 29, 2012. Having never turned a bowl or plate before, I decided to try a form of segmented bowl with splines intersecting in the bowl blank. Wait, what? Yep, that's kind of a them for how I work. Never done it before? I had some 8/4 stock laying around and started by cutting out roughly 6"x6" squares. The splines were all cut at a 45 degrees, one at a time. After each cut I glued a thin piece of opposing colored wood. Rinse. Repeat. Splines already glued in.

TUMBLEWOOD CREATIONS: December 2012

Sunday, December 30, 2012. My Favorite Plane by Scott Meek Woodworks. I've used Lie Nielsen planes at Woodworking in America and, while they are very sweet, I am much more impressed with the innovative approach that Lee Valley/Veritas take toward making planes. They really just make them better than the old vintage planes. Lie Nielsen are the cream of the crop for making beefed up replicas of the old planes, but they don't innovate, at least as far as I've seen. What makes a Scott Meek Woodworks. Green f...

Finally, a day in the shop. Asymp; Leave a Comment. It finally warmed up a bit so I spent some time out in the shop today. First off, it didn’t get quite as warm today as was forecasted so I stopped up to the store and exchanged a propane cylinder. Thought I’d try out the new heater that had only seen fitful use since any propane tanks I had were all almost empty. Then today when I went out I wanted to try something that I’d read an article on. I’m looking for smaller things to put in my ...Garage to sho...

TUMBLEWOOD CREATIONS: A Facelift without the Kenny Rogers Look
http://tumblewood.blogspot.com/2012/11/a-facelift-without-kenny-rogers-look.html
Monday, November 26, 2012. A Facelift without the Kenny Rogers Look. As always, I underestimate everything. I really wanted to not wait until I had a huge amount of information to report, but again find myself needing to write a rather long post. One thing I'd been waiting on was a proper outfeed table for the table saw. I knew approximately what I wanted, but once I found out I was going to be able to take the bending course with Seth, I put it off until I got through that. I couldn't easily bui...I nee...
