How the west was climbed: May 2010
http://howthewestwasclimbed.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
How the west was climbed. Climbing and adventure in the great west. Adventure is just over the horizon. The Journey begins here. Sunday, May 30, 2010. I got in late Friday night just after midnight from San Francisco and had some time last night to edit a few photos from the trip. Some are climbing related and others I took of interesting things found along the way. More to come as I have more to time to go thru them. Skyeler on the Bachar Cracker. Camp 4 Boulders. Skyeler goin' big on Thriller! Next day...

How the west was climbed. Climbing and adventure in the great west. Adventure is just over the horizon. The Journey begins here. Tuesday, April 6, 2010. More action, different day! Brad Gobright redpointing Superfly! My buddy Scott Bennett buzzed me a couple days ago to inform me that there was a pending attack on Superfly again. By now you should be somewhat familiar with the name of this route. It's a lesser known but total classic in Eldorado Canyon up in Kloof Alcove. Joe about to enter the business.

How the west was climbed. Climbing and adventure in the great west. Adventure is just over the horizon. The Journey begins here. Monday, August 2, 2010. I'm so psyched to finally get a couple photos published in a soon to be released guidebook from Stewart Green. It's called "Best of Denver and Boulder" and should be out in the fall. Hopefully this is just the beginning! Nick Chan feeling the exposure on the Naked Edge. Jill Cooper on the timeless classic Bastille Crack. Monday, August 02, 2010.

when are you ‘strong enough’? | nomad in rifle
https://nomadinrifle.wordpress.com/2014/06/01/when-are-you-strong-enough
Back in denver, trying to adjust to a climbing life not on the road. June 1, 2014. When are you ‘strong enough’? Something has been on my mind lately with regard to climbing…why is ‘downgrading’ of routes and boulder problems so rampant these days? Have grades inflated that much? Of course, i have no answers for these questions. i wish i did. but i will air my thoughts. I believe the most well known professional climber that is ‘guilty’ of downgrading, is jimmy webb. There is so much self-loathing and se...
failure with a capital F | nomad in rifle
https://nomadinrifle.wordpress.com/2014/11/19/failure-with-a-capital-f
Back in denver, trying to adjust to a climbing life not on the road. November 19, 2014. Failure with a capital F. 8216; kinky reggae. I do remember the very first time I got on it. I couldn’t do a single move in the crux. Not one. But for some reason I was drawn to this climb. The style of climbing suited me: steep/overhung power climbing with big moves between okay holds. I wanted to invest the time because it was really fun. I decided to commit. Newer bolted routes in the canyon kept me busy. But t...
re-learning how to climb | nomad in rifle
https://nomadinrifle.wordpress.com/2014/05/14/re-learning-how-to-climb
Back in denver, trying to adjust to a climbing life not on the road. May 14, 2014. Re-learning how to climb. To say that it’s been awhile is a bit of an understatement. probably close to a year and a half. in fact, i don’t think i posted a single thing in 2013. ‘so why now? 8217;, you may ask. well, before i answer that, a bit of an explanation on the hiatus. The mojo was building! Soon after this breakthrough, i sent a route i had tried a few times over the last few years. this got me thinking, R...

Crash and not burn
Monday, November 3, 2008. Started real training today - CC 12-week Off-season conditioning program. Excited to do core work, biking and flexibility programs. Last 4-6 weeks were Transition program. The breathing and core work helped keep me fit as I re-geared for the 12-week program. Weight is stable, but I'm drinking more water and eating more veggies and fruits. Hope to see it heading south soon. Wednesday, October 8, 2008. I can finish this race, too. Losing weight seems to be much harder than tra...
