I Can Haz Recipeez

I Can Haz Recipeez. Friday, September 19, 2008. I know, that title is an oxymoron to say the least. probably blasphemous to all you meat-and-potatoes people out there! I'll save that for another time in the very-distant future, perhaps. ;-) So I've always had a special fondness for it. Anyway, after a few attempts I finally came up with something blogworthy! The recipe is my own, but I did borrow certain parts from Moosewood Cookbook. 8 oz lentils (any kind). 1/3 to 1/2 c minced onion (any kind). 7 Bake ...

I Can Haz Recipeez: Oh, nuts!

http://www.cookingbykim.blogspot.com/2008/08/oh-nuts.html

I Can Haz Recipeez. Sunday, August 31, 2008. And I mean that literally. BFFT and I did quite a bit of entertaining this week, for which I am apologizing profusely to Chester (my liver). I figure that if Chester has a name, I'll be less likely to terrorize him in the future. Why Chester, you might ask? 4 c unsalted cashews ( I only had about 1 cup, so I used a mix of cashews and almonds. 1 large egg white, beaten slightly. 1/4 c granulated sugar. 4 t garam masala. 1 1/2 t kosher salt. Line a large rimmed ...

I Can Haz Recipeez. Tuesday, July 29, 2008. I can haz fotograff! Yippee - the picture uploader worked this time! I love how the melba sauce matches our new placemats perfectly. At last, a dessert recipe. On Saturday night BFFT and I had our first-ever Columbus houseguests. (Well actually, our first-ever house. Cook, but moving to a new area and expanding your social network also means that you have a new group of people to whom you can (or shall I say must! For the pound cake:. I Can Haz Recipeez: Chayote Ugly

http://www.cookingbykim.blogspot.com/2008/08/chayote-ugly.html

I Can Haz Recipeez. Saturday, August 9, 2008. Ever cooked (or even eaten) a chayote before? Meanwhile, I looked on in my gangly, pubescent (lack of) glory and seethed. Recipe for banana-sweet potato mash. But mostly, this is a Kim-made creation:. 1 t butter or canola oil. 2 chayotes, diced into 1-inch cubes. 2 bananas or plantains, sliced. 1 T brown sugar. 1 T orange juice. A dash of salt. The taste was, in my stepdad's words, interesting. (Believe it or not, that's a compliment! Remove the cover and add...

I Can Haz Recipeez: Italian burritos, and my fusion fixation

http://www.cookingbykim.blogspot.com/2008/08/italian-burritos-and-my-fusion-fixation.html

I Can Haz Recipeez. Friday, August 1, 2008. Italian burritos, and my fusion fixation. So I landed in San Diego this morning, and I now have some time to kill before heading off to a wedding in Julian for the weekend. Julian is a quaint mountain town about 1 1/2 hours to the northeast; I haven't been since I was about 3 years old, when my family drove there to play in the snow! 1 T olive oil. 1/3 c onion (preferably yellow). 1 small tomato (I used green this time - went well with the herbs color-wise!

http://zarafa99.blogspot.com/2008/07/photography-nitty-gritty-8-white.html

A buckeye moves to texas. by way of five or six other states. Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Photography nitty gritty #8: White balance. No you aren't crazy, I did skip #7 and went right to #8. That's because my plan was to write up some type of really brilliant post where we learn to combine what we learned in the previous lessons to get perfect exposure. But I don't have any sample pictures that I am willing to post yet, and its way to hot out right now for me to wander around in search of some. Ok, some cl...

A buckeye moves to texas. by way of five or six other states. Thursday, June 19, 2008. Photography nitty gritty #2: Exposure. Let's talk about light. Why? Because I said so. Well, that and because its kind of crucial to the whole photography thing. In fact, its pretty much all photography is when you get down to the most basic concept of it. A picture is a recording of whatever light you let into the camera. the amount of light recorded is controlled by the combination of 3 different. But back to light a...

A buckeye moves to texas. by way of five or six other states. Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Wow, its been a long time since I posted here. Yikes! Its been a busy couple months with graduation and work and traveling and dogs and blah blah blah. But one of the most exciting things (yes, I've turned incredibly lame, I know) is that we finally got some real furniture! The little dog butt belongs to Penny, the springer spaniel we are dog sitting. Don't worry, I'll send an email. July 15, 2009 at 1:10 PM. 4 Aperture...

A buckeye moves to texas. by way of five or six other states. Wednesday, June 25, 2008. Photography nitty gritty #4: Aperture Part II. So we ended last time saying that you can't just run around changing your aperture willy-nilly. Well, I mean, you can. its your camera, you can do whatever the heck you want. but if you're going for a certain look, you can't. Why not? Because, aperture controls the "depth-of-field" in a photograph, and along with that, the bokeh. Not making any sense? How about a visual?

Dinner (and drinks) by Ken. Thursday, March 12, 2009. Here is a recipe for Portabella Parmesan we've enjoyed a few times. I don't exactly remember where we found it (food network, probably, so perhaps Giada? But it has consistently been an easy and tasty dish. Before the oven (with good lighting) . Dinner (and drinks) by Ken: Asian BBQ Pizza

http://kencooks.blogspot.com/2009/09/asian-bbq-pizza.html

Dinner (and drinks) by Ken. Saturday, September 5, 2009. This recipe is one I made up one day as a way to get rid of extra dough and extra chicken I had laying around. I didn't have a lot of other ingredients, so the original version was much simpler than the one picture below, and I think it was actually quite a bit better (I only had a little dough that time, so I had a thinner, crisper crust). 1/2 small roasting chicken (legs and thighs), diced. 1/4 cup hoisin sauce (Chinese BBQ sauce).

Dinner (and drinks) by Ken: Blueberry Corn Muffins

http://kencooks.blogspot.com/2008/06/blueberry-corn-muffins.html

Dinner (and drinks) by Ken. Saturday, June 7, 2008. A few months ago, Z found a recipe for "individual blueberry cakes" in Family Circle magazine. We tried these once, and thought they were delicious. Then, we tried them again, and again, and again (just to be sure), and still feel this way. They're a remarkably easy "semi-homemade" dessert that starts with a box of cornbread mix. We bake them in muffin tins. And then flip them over to serve. 1 - 1-1/2 cup blueberries. 1 box Jiffy corn bread mix.
