Castle Rock – mostly about beer……..
http://www.mostlyaboutbeer.co.uk/tag/castle-rock
Mostly about beer……. A blog about beer – drinking it, writing it, reading it, loving it. Harvest Pale – the gateway beer. About a week ago I scanned the beer engines in a local and decided to have a pint of Harvest Pale from Castle Rock Brewery. This beer was awarded the Champion Beer of Britain by CAMRA in 2010 – roughly the time I started nurturing a serious interest in beer. It’s only after this initial introduction that an old school sweat returns; the humulone spritz segues into the warm greasy past...

Mostly about beer……. A blog about beer – drinking it, writing it, reading it, loving it. Over the weekend, I noticed that Chiltern Brewery had a stall in the Sunday market with a couple of beers I’ve been aware of but never tried: their Black IPA and White IPA. I’ve always been a fan of their cask beer but it’s rarely seen in St Albans despite the brewery being considered local in a broad sense. The Black IPA (bottle conditioned 7.8) pours a dark tan with a fluffy beige head and lilts of earthy Briti...

Mostly about beer……. A blog about beer – drinking it, writing it, reading it, loving it. 2017: a year that doesn’t roll off the tongue. Well 2017’s here. Whether it will be as full of upheaval and death as its predecessor, I doubt. But if it is, then current affairs will replace benzedrine this coming year. I’m sharing with you not so much two new year’s resolutions as two statements of intent. They almost contradict each other:. It’s also in stark contrast to IPA which has in one popular guise put itsel...

The Session #117: Consequences Of Opportunism – Beer Means Business
http://beermeansbusiness.com/2016/11/04/the-session-117-consequences-of-opportunism
The Session #117: Consequences Of Opportunism. Nov 04, 2016. The popularity of ‘craft’ beer has been growing. It attracts consumers, entrepreneurs and financial interests. The sector benefits from the inflow of cash, passion and capital, but its prosperity and potential invite commercial opportunism. In the future, we are likely to see more short-sighted actions that lack integrity. On the one hand, the sense of risk of being found out of counterfeiting exclusive products is negligible, especially if the...
The Session 117 Announcement: More, more, more… – Beer Means Business
http://beermeansbusiness.com/2016/10/25/the-session-117-announcement-more-more-more
The Session 117 Announcement: More, more, more…. Oct 25, 2016. I have always been obsessed with asking what happens next or what is still ahead instead of simply embracing what is in the present. Ever since I heard about Beer Blogging Fridays, I have been toying with the idea of hosting a Session to paint a collective picture of what the future related to beer will be like. This month, Beer Means Business has the honour to host The Session and to make this happen. The final picture of. OK, I’m real...

Prince… I wanted his wardrobe – I couldn’t understand how a man could dress like that and be so sexy…. And I wanted a white guitar… (can’t play a lick). Time at the swamp. July 21, 2012. 8211; Hi, I was thinking about the Saturday-thing and I was thinking… Why the hell not, let’s do it, should I take anything special with me? At the trail there’s a small memorial stone of some poor who obviously died during the Civil war. The Antifa-movement is never far away and we found this card and a decayed flower bouquet at the stone. Pay attention to the tin can filled with wine. Although Lauri doesn’t smoke that much I got a shitloads of pictures about him ...
mostly about beer......
Tuesday, 30 August 2016. The pores of your skin dilate from the lurid heat. The way the light in the evening sends people’s shadows spilling across the ground, you’d expect to see a mushroom cloud on the horizon. God it’s hot. When summer gives over to autumn in this country, it’s the sun’s last stand. Over the past few weeks we’ve witnessed its nuclear core in its final charge. It’s going over the top. My own leaning is in favour of Oakham Ales but the two halves I had from Titanic did give the Stafford...

. . . . . . . . . . . . Mostly About Boats
Monday, February 9, 2015. Engine Cover Sound Deadening. The Albin Ballad engine lives in an enclosed fibreglass box under the cockpit floor. The lid is a two part affair that seals against the engine bay pan. The forward section holds the companionway stairs, with a small storage box on top. Both sections are tied down, and together, with rubber hood latches. My latest project has been to reduce some of the noise coming through the engine box housing the Yanmar 2GMF 20 Diesel. As an installation guide.

MOSTLY ABOUT FLAX
Growing and Processing Flax (with photos). Growing and Processing Flax. The photo above was taken during week 9 of my 2010 growing season - such a sight to behold, I think. I started this blog initially to have a web site where people can access my class handout (which can be found in 'pages' under the cover photo at the top of the page) I will also attempt to record my adventures in flax growing, processing, spinning, weaving, researching, teaching of classes, etc. Wednesday, May 14, 2014.
