mostlyaboutbeer – Page 2

https://mostlyaboutbeer.wordpress.com/page/2

Is not having permanent beers the future for craft brewing? Last night in the White Hart Tap in St Albans, I was drawn straight towards the abstract Mondrianesque artwork on a Cloudwater pump clip. I’d made the decision to order a pint of this beer based on its maker before even scrutinising the style. It was a 3.9 ABV pale ale and like their other offerings, they have the power to beam lucid hop profiles as if through the clarity of a plasma screen. Mentioned before, we like to celebrate the uniqueness ...

London Craft Beer Festival 2016 – mostlyaboutbeer

https://mostlyaboutbeer.wordpress.com/2016/08/17/london-craft-beer-festival-2016

London Craft Beer Festival 2016. How the LCBF knocked me sideways. On Saturday evening I decided to go online and book a ticket for the London Craft Beer Festival at the Oval Space in Hackney. I hadn’t planned to do this but got tempted by seeing the brochure of someone who’d just come back from it. I intended write a pros and cons assessment of this festival against the GBBF but that’s not possible – they’re not remotely comparable. In their own juices as the panes acted as a magnifier to the sun’s rays.

Cultures within the beer culture. CULTURES WITHIN THE BEER CULTURE:. There is another way beer belongs to the international community: The unprecedented phenomenon of social media. Video sharing and live sites such as YouTube Hangouts have thousands of ordinary people broadcasting their own opinions and reviews about beer online. Why not? A long range get-together! Again, I think it’s wonderful. Word gets about amazing new beers and the reviews filter out into the wider global bibosphere. Welcome to the ...

should the GBBF just serve British beer? – mostlyaboutbeer

https://mostlyaboutbeer.wordpress.com/2016/08/13/should-the-gbbf-just-serve-british-beer

Should the GBBF just serve British beer? Further reflections on the GBBF 2016. In the autumn issue of CAMRA’s Beer magazine, the item of debate was whether the GBBF should only sell British beer (with my assumed emphasis on tap rather than in bottle). The question was also put out as a poll on Twitter. I voted but without much thought or verve and as ever, it’s retrospectively I actually start thinking about the question in the first place – only once it’s been and gone! The Alvinne Stout was from the Be...

You’re at the best beer blog ever. Saisons in the sun, part two. Brussels →. Saisons in the sun, part one. Eurostar. First experience of Eurostar? All I can say is I was so glad to finally make it on to the platform, but to then only discover how ignorant some travelers can be. Stood blocking the platform with a combination of bags, trolleys, children and other shite. Honestly! I just want to get on the train! That is of course until Delphine announces our next stop which is Lille. To be continued….

Time at the swamp. July 21, 2012. 8211; Hi, I was thinking about the Saturday-thing and I was thinking… Why the hell not, let’s do it, should I take anything special with me? At the trail there’s a small memorial stone of some poor who obviously died during the Civil war. The Antifa-movement is never far away and we found this card and a decayed flower bouquet at the stone. Pay attention to the tin can filled with wine. Although Lauri doesn’t smoke that much I got a shitloads of pictures about him ...

mostly about beer......

Tuesday, 30 August 2016. The pores of your skin dilate from the lurid heat. The way the light in the evening sends people’s shadows spilling across the ground, you’d expect to see a mushroom cloud on the horizon. God it’s hot. When summer gives over to autumn in this country, it’s the sun’s last stand. Over the past few weeks we’ve witnessed its nuclear core in its final charge. It’s going over the top. My own leaning is in favour of Oakham Ales but the two halves I had from Titanic did give the Stafford...

mostly about beer…….. – a blog about beer – drinking it, writing it, reading it, loving it

Mostly about beer……. A blog about beer – drinking it, writing it, reading it, loving it. Harvest Pale – the gateway beer. About a week ago I scanned the beer engines in a local and decided to have a pint of Harvest Pale from Castle Rock Brewery. This beer was awarded the Champion Beer of Britain by CAMRA in 2010 – roughly the time I started nurturing a serious interest in beer. It’s only after this initial introduction that an old school sweat returns; the humulone spritz segues into the warm greasy past...

Monday, February 9, 2015. Engine Cover Sound Deadening. The Albin Ballad engine lives in an enclosed fibreglass box under the cockpit floor. The lid is a two part affair that seals against the engine bay pan. The forward section holds the companionway stairs, with a small storage box on top. Both sections are tied down, and together, with rubber hood latches. My latest project has been to reduce some of the noise coming through the engine box housing the Yanmar 2GMF 20 Diesel. As an installation guide.
