Monday, February 9, 2015. Engine Cover Sound Deadening. The Albin Ballad engine lives in an enclosed fibreglass box under the cockpit floor. The lid is a two part affair that seals against the engine bay pan. The forward section holds the companionway stairs, with a small storage box on top. Both sections are tied down, and together, with rubber hood latches. My latest project has been to reduce some of the noise coming through the engine box housing the Yanmar 2GMF 20 Diesel. As an installation guide.

Monday, December 17, 2012. BOAT RESCUE: PART 13, A BIT OF EVERYTHING. Previous Post: BOAT RESCUE PART 12: HULL PAINT. The last several weeks have been spent on many smaller tasks, with some left partially finished until old parts were rebuilt or new parts ordered. Older style Lemar 40 in pieces, newer Lewmar 40 with aluminum drum on right. Most of the old bronze deck hardware that had peeling chrome was also replated, along with the winch drums. The stainless items were polished on a buffing wheel. Backg...

Friday, June 8, 2012. BOAT RESCUE PART 10: INTERIOR WORK STARTS IN ERNEST. Previous Post: BOAT RESCUE PART 9: THE FUN CONTINUES. It seems as though progress has been slow, but checking my photo files I realize this is not the case. Several non-boat related projects have been completed, freeing me up to concentrate on the Ballad again. The damage around the table supports in the cockpit floor greeted me every time I climbed into the boat, so it was time to attend to that job. Trimming off the thru-hull.

Wednesday, May 8, 2013. BOAT RESCUE, PART 16: Lots of pictures! Previously: PART 15: PLAYING WITH LED LIGHTING. It's been a busy time for us this year, and I've neglected my restoration updates, so I'm going to post lots of pictures with as little chatter as possible. Here goes, I'll start with electrical progress:. Junction block in head, for mast wiring and interior lights. Electrical panel, still a work in progress! Solar panel trial fit. Rear of battery switch, also battery fuses. Voyage of the Flagf...

Monday, June 25, 2012. One Year in Restoration, the Boat Rescue. Previous Post: Part 10: Interior Work Starts in Ernest. Just a note in passing, today marks exactly one year since we pulled the Ballad home. At times things seem to be going pretty slow, but looking back at the early pictures I realize just how far we've come. There's still a ton of work to be done, but it's a joy to see it coming together, mostly as planned! Next Post: Boat Rescue Part 11: Interior Finish Work. August 13, 2012 at 6:55 PM.

Tuesday, January 15, 2013. BOAT RESCUE, PART 14: UPHOLSTERY TIME. Previously: PART 13: A BIT OF EVERYTHING. With the cooler weather here again it was time to line up an indoor job for a few days. I've had my roll of upholstery fabric. For a while, sitting in the basement waiting for some attention. Cutting fabric, with windows open and fan on, using a hot knife to prevent fraying,. Pieces ready for assembly. Stuffing in the foam. Sewing on the zippers. Stack of three settee cushions. The mattress for the...

Adventures with Yggdrasil: octubre 2010

http://vega-yggdrasil.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Viernes, 1 de octubre de 2010. I sailed around in the famous archipelago south of Fyn in first couple of weeks in August. Marstal is always nice. It was a very lively village some 100 years ago with hundreds of big Marstal schooners sailing all over the world. When this trade died because of the use of bigger ships with engines, Mastal slowly lost its importance and is now a pretty sleepy little village. More info about Marstall here and on Google:. I took a one-week vacation from my 9 to 5 job to fill and sand decks and cabin. Time at the swamp. July 21, 2012. 8211; Hi, I was thinking about the Saturday-thing and I was thinking… Why the hell not, let’s do it, should I take anything special with me? At the trail there’s a small memorial stone of some poor who obviously died during the Civil war. The Antifa-movement is never far away and we found this card and a decayed flower bouquet at the stone. Pay attention to the tin can filled with wine. Although Lauri doesn’t smoke that much I got a shitloads of pictures about him ...

Tuesday, 30 August 2016. The pores of your skin dilate from the lurid heat. The way the light in the evening sends people’s shadows spilling across the ground, you’d expect to see a mushroom cloud on the horizon. God it’s hot. When summer gives over to autumn in this country, it’s the sun’s last stand. Over the past few weeks we’ve witnessed its nuclear core in its final charge. It’s going over the top. My own leaning is in favour of Oakham Ales but the two halves I had from Titanic did give the Stafford...

Mostly about beer……. A blog about beer – drinking it, writing it, reading it, loving it. Harvest Pale – the gateway beer. About a week ago I scanned the beer engines in a local and decided to have a pint of Harvest Pale from Castle Rock Brewery. This beer was awarded the Champion Beer of Britain by CAMRA in 2010 – roughly the time I started nurturing a serious interest in beer. It’s only after this initial introduction that an old school sweat returns; the humulone spritz segues into the warm greasy past...
