http://roadtodublinmarathon2007.blogspot.com/2007/10/it-was-going-so-well-until.html

The Road to Dublin Marathon 2007. Wednesday, 10 October 2007. It was going so well until. After the twist I walked a good percentage of the last four miles, only running when I felt physically able to, but scared of further injury, I waited til I got to the last 400 meters before pushing myself. I managed to push myself to race pace without too much pain, the walking having eased some off the agony I had been feeling when it first happened. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Road to Dublin Marathon 2007. Friday, 17 August 2007. Plan for Sunday is at least 12 miles, although I would quite like to do 13, and since Christmas came early today, in the form of a Garmin Forerunner 101, a present from my Mum, it should be easier for me to work out my mileage without having to resort to Google Maps. As they say, watch this space! Monday, 13 August 2007. Wednesday, 8 August 2007. 4 miles is better than no miles. And you get the picture! Watch this space as they say! Welcome Friend...

Running Matters: Running and Getting Older (Day 19)

http://runningmatters.blogspot.com/2014/01/running-and-getting-older-day-19.html

The evolving manifesto of a soft core runner. Sunday, January 19, 2014. Running and Getting Older (Day 19). Run - 8.7km, 52 minutes. So after a week of sluggishness it was back to running and feeling much happier. My last run, when I was sickening, was a struggle but this felt steady. Good. It means I can keep on keeping on and have not fallen off a fitness cliff. How many people out of how many come to harm? You cannot be timid just because you can imagine a dangerous scenario, you have to know if it is...

My project for 2014 is to try to record small, fleeting moments of pleasure. The sort of thing that makes you inwardly smile but is then quickly forgotten. I want to prove that my default setting is not really miserablist. The blog is called Small Moments. How can basic exercise make you feel more connected? Summary of Days 26-30.

Running Matters: In Defence of Janathon (Day 4)

The evolving manifesto of a soft core runner. Saturday, January 04, 2014. In Defence of Janathon (Day 4). Run (treadmill) - 5km, 29 minutes. Yesterday I was amused by a small conversation on Twiter. It started with @simon lamb saying:. What the fuck is janathon and jantastic does every single piece of our ass need to be sloganised what's wrong with good old fashioned running. Are they the same thing? I started reading the rules and almost died of boredom. Where do we go with this? But that is by the bye&...

RunningCommando's Blog | A total beginner's guide to running

A total beginner's guide to running. Taking the pressure off. May 14, 2014. I’ll start by apologizing for not having blogged this year. I can’t believe that it is already May! Not blogging of course doesn’t mean that I haven’t been running or racing. In fact I already have three races under my belt this year and more lined up. I was setting myself goals based on race distances and not the course, therefore, not taking into consideration a hilly course v a flat course etc. I was also setting off at a ...

Running Commentaries | Goofus (Rachel, writing in red) and Gallant (Amy, writing in blue) go for a run! …and write about it.

Goofus (Rachel, writing in red) and Gallant (Amy, writing in blue) go for a run! 8230;and write about it. Amy’s 2009 Races. February 6, 2011. It was a beautiful, beautiful weekend here in Sacramento. I’m sorry to tell you east coast and midwest folks this but it was 75 degrees, sunny and wonderful out. Every Feb it gets nice for a weekend and we all think winter’s over (it’s not). But it’s the perfect break from the awful, awful fog that’s socked us in for months. So I went back home and ran 11 of the ha...

A Running Commentary – Thoughts about life and fitness…

Thoughts about life and fitness…. I’m a creature of habit, and that cuts both ways. Whether I’m in the habit of doing good things or bad things, I tend to stay in those habits until something knocks me out of them. Sometimes that’s external and sometimes it’s internal – I just get tired of suffering through *WHATEVER* enough to make a change and stick with it until it takes hold. Call them motivations, call the internal kind self-motivation. I started simply by saying that I’d do something active e...

Sunday, 27 November 2016. Shoe Heel-to-Toe Drop: What it means for you. I’ve received some feedback about confusion regarding the definition of shoe heel-to-toe drop, and its implications for running style. Therefore, I am writing this brief article to try and explain what it all means for the average runner looking to buy a new pair of running shoes. Bear in mind that all technical data are generally given for a size US9.0 shoe. It goes without saying that a smaller. In recent years, a more moderate dro...

A study of feelings during exercise. Running Commentary: a study of feelings during exercise. Hi, my name’s Katy. I love running and I’m doing a PhD in psychology at Surrey Uni. Step by step, word by word. Moxie 5k – pre-race thoughts. I ran this race last year, I think it was my first official 5k run and I remember pulling in a time of just under 24 minutes, 23.46 to be…. The past week New York City has been enveloped in a pretty good heat wave. This Daily Post headline pretty much sums it up: NO MERCY! Heatwave scorches New York…. Queens 10k 2012 – Recap. Unfortunately this weekend and past week was a running disaster! A Sub 20 minute 5k. Hit the ground running.
